The Ugoos is already set up with the Aeon Nox skin with Artist Slideshow but not the level of detail (like lyrics) as the QQ Nuc
If you go into the settings and enable the lyrics addon (kodi will download and install it, if it's not already) then it will search online for lyrics for any track it doesn't already have them for. Those are then saved locally so the lookup is virtually instantaneous the next time.

I didnt know it saved them. Where does it save them MrBurns? Ive seen where tagscanner can include them in a tag.

I should have ordered two then I could wear them as earrings.
Cute little thing
I never thought of them as a fashon statement. ;)

In spite of thier size, rhey are fairly powerful PCs. Significantly better than the laptop i used to transfer Garry's kodi image onto thier SSDs. There are certainly more powerful CPUs than the i3 8th gen processors in these NUCs, but even if they were i7s the box would still be the same size. They are equipped quite well with USB 3.0, thunderbolt/ USB C port, HDMI 2.1.

I’m pretty well filled up with general-purpose computers at the moment - one Windows tower, one windows laptop, one Linux Ubuntu tower, and one Mac mini, so I probably won’t be fiddling with a NUC myself other than my new shiny AV toy. Not to mention that another project isn’t something I’m looking for. The ones I already have seem to keep growing faster than I can clear them out, but it looks as intriguing as a new raspberry pi.

I havent used a tower in my home in 15 years. Unless you need to fill it with HDDs for storage or need a super large monitor there is no reason. I have a NAS to take care of all that storage now. You can get laptops now that easily compete with most tower designs with respect to performance. I did use a small tower for work before i retired, but that was just because i did a lot with solidworks and needed the 2 big monitors. Those days are gone for me.

It saves them in the addon_data directory. Specifically /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/script.cu.lrclyrics/lyrics I think that's the default but you can also change the path in the addon settings, or have it save the lyrics next to the song/track or in a sub-directory of the album. It's quite flexible really.

Im in a bit of a kodi transition. Up to now, all artist info was stored in the local music folders (the stereo folders to be exact). The fanart, info, logo, etc. At one of the prior updates, kodi started creating artist information folders, also stored locally, and there is info in there as well.

The centralized artist information directory that Is implemented on the QQ build is certainly the way to go. Should i start deleting the local stuff?

It appears during playback, kodi continues to use the local thumbnail. Should i keep it that way? Are there thumbnails in the Artist information directory? If i have thumbs i really like, i can place them there correct?

I run 2 kodi boxes in my house. One on my surround setup and one stereo setup in my master bedroom. They share the same NAS. Garry mentioned that i would want to move the artist information directory to my NAS, point both kodi boxes to it, and update only that one directory.

I must admit I haven't used Kodi for more than 15 years. I would hazard a guess it's changed quite a bit ;)

Currently I have my Music, Movies, Pictures and Music Videos stored on separate HDD's connected to my Synology NAS.

My music is further separated into folders I've named 'My Albums (Stereo)' and 'My Albums (Surround) and my movies are separated into folders called 'My SD Movies', 'My HD Movies' and 'My UHD Movies'.

I'm hoping I wont have to change this...

I dont see why you would. When you scan them in, kodi is going to ask you for a name for the source. It defaults to the name of the root folder. So in your case it will name the sources My Albums (Stereo) and My Albums (Surround), etc. If you want to change that, you'll have to plug a keyboard into the NUC. No virtual keyboard is offered.

In my case, i have root structures like Stereo/FLAC/artist directories and Multichannel/FLAC/artist directories. So i have to change the names, else there would be 2 sources named FLAC.

My skin mod wants to see 'Stereo', 'Surround" etc but that can be edited by a user.

Is there any reason to have 'My Albums' in the folder title? Who else's Albums do you have :)

Another member here on QQ has sub-folder the the first letter of each artist. Why I do not know?
Code:
Music\A\A artist 1
       \A artist 2
     \B\B artist 1

In my case I have been doing CD to files since WMA so it made searching easier to locate stuff before more intelligent media players came along.
For my ATMOS, Quad and Surround I have now flattened it into just those three directories, no longer using an alphabet subdirectory.

My stereo media on the other hand is still sorted in that manner, although I am prepared to change if KodiNuc rocks my world as expected.

So here i sit in my lounger in the early morning listening to Cat Stevens - Catch Bull At Four. Cat Stevens always sounds so inspirational.

Im a bit awed as i reflect on what was acomplished with this project. In just a couple of weeks, 60 media players were put into the hands of audiophiles who wanted a way to play digital audio with as little tech know how as possible. It was accomplished by a few individuals working together, but all living in different parts of the world. The media players are very high quality, very low cost, and provide the best experience i know of for listening to music.

Im 67 years old, retired for the last 2 years. I never would have imagined this happening 25 years ago.

My life has seen a lot of amazing milestones. Men walking on the moon. The fall of the Berlin Wall. So many medical breakthroughs (I myself am a cancer survivor in full remission for 15 years now. What i had was a death sentence just 3 years prior to my diagnosis). Cars that drive themselves, The rise of the digital age - the internet, cellphones. So many things - i cant even name them all. I wish i could still be around to see what the next 50 years brings.

Anyway, all i really want to say is, i hope you enjoy your media players. It was a pleasure to be part of this. I hope i get to do it again.

My main Windows PC has a handful,of cards in it, including a TV tuner/video capture card and a stack of USBs for all the printers. It also has a BD burner, a front-panel console for plugging in just about anything, and a drawer for USB sticks. It also has three hard drives in it (one is SSD). So that being a mini-tower makes sense. The laptop is mostly useful for dragging out to the car to check the diagnostics (I keep cars a long time, and try to work on them myself, too).

The Unix tower is an ongoing “I wonder what I can make this do” project. I’ve fiddled with RAIDs in it, tried using it as a recorder and editor, yadda, yadda. Not a priority, just a sideline.

All run BOINC, so cooling is a facror.

They are all hooked into a KVMA switch.

Glad you're here to enjoy this, Paul--and to help out the rest of us. Boundless thanks to you for helping to execute this project, to @HomerJAU for envisioning (and provisioning, and coordinating) it, and to @MrBurns for helping you both with ongoing technical support. Here's a case of the right hands manipulating the global supply chain to make peoples' lives better!
