My (classical) Super Quadio proposal - easier packaging, easier promotion, easier shipping.

Although I'm not a classical music fan, I'd buy a multi-album Quadio single disc to get both Percussion Music and the William Bolcom Piano Music QuadraDisc mixes (the only classical quad albums I have) at the highest fidelity, especially the Percussion Music album.

I would spring for a Nonesuch "Quadio" box set with at least four albums included. Maybe eight albums (on four discs) if the production budget can swing it. A nice booklet also included with extensive notes by an expert on 20th Century Classical. But how many others would want it?

10 Nonesuch QuadraDiscs - I don't know about the rights issue - different classical musical acts on one ~400 minute Quadio or a box set with 2 or 3 acts/Quadio.

I think it'd be a good way to make the Nonesuch quads available by selling all 10 on one or a few Quadios for $60 to $80 (the Nonesuch quad LPs were $3.98 whereas the other WEA quad LPs were $6.98).

Pretty sure that most of those Nickrenz/Aubort-engineered quad albums were recorded with a single quadraphonic microphone array placed amongst the musicians (or musician, in the case of the Bolcom album) for an ambient (almost binaural) presentation - you're not going to get much in the way of discrete fireworks with this kind of methodology, even off the master tapes.

You guys certainly realize that there isn't the slightest chance of getting that over the line.
I do love that William Bolcom Gershwin album.
Solo piano in quad?

Curious. Can anyone speak to the presentation of the Bolcom/Gershwin in quad? I see there was a quad reel...
It's actually (surprisingly?) a pretty great sounding album. Not to mention historically significant. But I don't know how they did it....

I recently played a Debussy recital [Stereo SACD] performed by a very talented Japanese female solo pianist in a DSP SUPER surround mode on my Meridian 861 v.8 pre/pro and it was akin to being inside the piano. ...so extraordinary were the sonics!

I'm sure the Bolcom Gershwin recital in QUAD would likewise produce Fascinating Rhythms!

And the Nonesuch label was always highly regarded for both its content and sonics!

I gather a bunch of Nonesuch 4-chans were on quad reels.

It’ll remain a future fan project for some fanatic to work on. You know how dedicated they can be. LOL!
