I love Roxy music but not this Steven Wilson 5.1 mix. So anyone out there want a copy (I know that others love it) you can have it for $80 US or $100 CAD. I've also listed it on Discogs for $120 CAD. Shipping will have to be calculated according to zip code or country, I would guess about $30-35 CAD to the US. The book makes it heavy!

I'm surprised you don't like it!! Why? To unconservative?
I picked up 3 sealed copies from Amazon US about 1 month or 2 after release for around $65 each.....if I remember correctly

Just wish I had forked out the STERLING for the signed editions by Brian Ferry:mad:

Saw Bryan the last 2 times he was in town, dude still does a great show.
Last time I saw Roxy Music I think was on their last tour I guess in like 2001 in Vancouver BC......got really lucky.....a scalper had a front row center ticket I got it for only $75 CDN....great show!!!

I saw that reunion tour in Los Angeles. They were good.

The thing about the box set that irks me....they did not include the extended what 6 minute version of Ladytron that Steven wilson had mixed for record store day. I passed on getting it figuring it would be included here.

I love this album as well as the other Roxy's, I just hate this mix. If anything it's much too conservative, elements that should jump out at you are are buried in the mix. It lacks the punch of the original stereo mix, in fact it has no punch at all. I tried to listen to the CD's in the set but they too sounded terrible. I ripped the first one to the hard drive and opened it in Audition, it was brick walled and clipped! You would think that this ridiculous loudness war would be over by now!
Awhile ago I was listening to the original (not remastered) CD and it sounds great, much like the LP. I played it through the Photolume (QSD-2 clone) and it sounds fantastic. I think I'll look for the Japanese SACD.

Bob Clearmountian is one of my favorite engineer/producers. Went to parties at his house in L.A. I don know why he never embraced 5.1. Probably because he was getting paid royally to mix 2.0
