Well, after waxing lyrically about Stephen Taylors latest mix, here I find another gem.

C'mon Amazon JP, get this one up on the website ASAP!!

My fingers are itching to pull the trigger.
A real shame, Mike, that DHL s/h from CDJapan is so exorbitant.....My last order with them via DHL was just shy of 5000 yen! JPC.de [Germany] has ridiculously cheap s/h charges to the States even for a box set like Rage In Eden.

What Gives?

I've never ordered from CDJapan Ralphie, been happy to wait to see if Amazon JP will list what I'm after.

But yes that is crazy, cheaper from JPC!!

Not to veer off course, but I just purchased 3 Stereo SACDs from Deep Discount for $40 ..... one is a Hong Kong Import, one from SONY Japan [classical] and a very expensive VENUS Jazz recording which alone goes for $40 ... plus I received a 10% discount and FREE s/h ......

Good things indeed come to those who wait. Good luck with AmazonJP ....... And DHL s/h is akin to those PESKY BADGERS!

As a very casual Santana fan, someone please convince me this is worth owning.
I too am a very casual Santana fan. I've never listened to this album. When I do, I will tell you what I think of it.

One thing I am sure of, listening to music on YouTurd to see if one likes an album provides a very poor impression of what a work will sound like in glorious high-resolution, well-mastered quadraphonic sound.

Same with me. My friend says it’s quite different from the first three.

Yes it is, not like the harder "pure" latin-rock sound of 1-3. It has a spiritual theme in a fusion-world music style with the elements of rock, latin & jazz. Parts are "other-worldly" in sound. It's great in quad!!

I found this on the album's theme and background:

And it is one of the best quad albums with great use of surrounds. For my tastes, I always found the SQ Santana albums up there with the Pink Floyds (DSOTM & WYWH) as far as aggressive & psychedelic use of rears. If the swirling crickets and droning sax intro on track 1 don't bring a smile to your face, I'd be surprised :)

I learned years ago that Carlos became friends with Miles Davis musically and both musically & spiritually with Alice Coltraine, at one time married to John Coltraine. Some of the jazz influences on the Santana sound are there as well as latin rock.

You won't regret buying this one.
