you are full of good news! Come on down in 91* heat and 70+ humidity and work with me in N Fl....if you dare... :)
There is NO doubt the weather can be brutal, especially where you live. I've never had to do physical work in your region, but I will say some of the most demanding work I've ever done was right here in central Illinois during the hottest weather....hoisting fast moving hay bales into position in the hayloft. Especially those bales that were "baled" with a bit of moisture. Very heavy, dense, scratchy and tough to lift into position for a scrawny 12 year old. Actually, my dad called it hay mow...seems regionally it can be called that or hayloft. Same thing. Top of the barn where it's freaking hot as hell.

Man picking up wet bales of grass used to kick my (adult) butt. It was cut and baled and used for seeding pastures.
But I hear ya unpleasant either way.

I'm a big fan of Lez Zeppelin (tribute band) and now equally a fan of Black Sabbitch. Extremely talented ladies.

I know it gets darned hot up there as well. Maybe it's the humidity, or probably old age, that it just keeps getting harder fighting the elements.
But really cold weather I can not take either, and believe me, I've worked in snow and did not like it.
I went to Basic training at Ft. Knox in Kentucky in the winter. Wet and cold all the time. Yuchh! Got really sick, and fractured my foot. Whom could ask for more? lol.

Power of positive thinking is needed. Old? Rubbish!

I totally hate winter....these days. It seems to me I've developed some sort of nerve damage. (I guess) If I'm out in the cold (and cold can be defined as simply below freezing) my fingers get numb and sore in a matter of minutes. Gloves or not. Also, my feet (toes) get the same sort of issues. It's a horrible thing, and I've been this way for probably 7-8 years.

I spent a couple of summers as a teen baling hay in British Columbia, Canada. It hit 100F there, and about all we had to help ourselves was lake water, which was cold but apparently not all that healthy.

Yep, bales sometimes were a little damp, and they got pretty heavy. And, of course, they could get heavy enough that they broke the baling twine holding them together.

I made damned sure I wasn’t going to end up as a hay farmer.

I use these when skiing and when on trips where I will be outside touring in cold weather...

I get that totally. I'm diabetic and my feet give me heck all day all night. Everything else...well arthritis really bad now.

Yes, I went to a specialist years ago, and initially they said it was chilblains and it could be. We also talked about Raynauds. Or combination of both. The pictures in the Raynauds are identical to my visual symptoms.
My mother had it, but in her later years she didn't venture out as much
