Or... maybe they WERE interested... or someone tried to get them interested and failed...Today against all odds I found 3 SDE titles in a used record store...more importantly, there's someone other than me interested in surround in a 50 mile radius????????
I don't know how many folks here like to work some home-grown crops, (I know our bud @beerking does.) But just came across this YT video of a berry I'd never heard of before and I'm intrigued! I've grown hundreds of varieties of tomatoes over the last few decades, but for some reason I've never heard of these things called "Ground Cherries" Looks like a miniature Tomatillo. I haven't grown Tomatillos, but I have tasted them; now I'm wondering what these little darlin's taste like?
Here's what Google says they taste like:
"Ground cherries taste like a sweet and slightly tart mix between a tomato and a pineapple, with a tropical flavor profile, often described as a blend of sweet, sour, and umami notes; they are sometimes compared to a tomatillo with a grape-like texture."
This year I'll attempt to grow a few more tomato varieties from my fried in southern CA. 'Laurel Garza'.
She ships the starts out in the mail and they are very strong plants about a foot+ high when you get them.
The starts should get to me in early April, here's the varieties (some I've never grown before)
1884
Amish Rose
Ananas Noir
Black Goose Creek
Blue Chocolate
Brandywine OTV
Purple Zebra
Ruby Gold
and here's her web page for those that are interested in reading about the tomatoes.
