We're looking at the storm Sunday (slightly on the edge of the worst of it), followed by a week of mid-20s at night and mostly highs of 40 during the day. Good time to see if my heat pump can handle it (fingers x'ed). Better change the water in my aquariums before it hits. Hate doing that during cold weather, but tis the time of year.

In the 40's in N FL. What up wi dat?

Billboard top singles, 50 years ago today:

#1 ~ LSD - Elton John
#12 ~ Must Of Got Lost - J Geils Band
#14 ~ Bungle in the Jungle - Jethro Tull

Two ex-Beatles solo tracks

Bangers to dreck ratio about 50/ 50, par for those times.

Call half of it dreck or whatever, but none of the songs in that 1975 chart bother me. This is in contrast to the 90% of the stuff I hear on WLTW when my wife has that station playing in her car. I guess I’m just old. It’s tough being 39 all the time.

Radio here is Country or 80's/90's top 40. Plus some other stuff I would have no idea how to classify.
Unless you catch a weekend special, all the Country is "modern Country". No Merle, Conway, or Possum.
Speaking of Possum, I met George Jones. Him and Tammy lived in the same general area as I did near Lakeland, FL, and used to have decent concerts on the back of his property...parking in the adjacent Orange Grove. Really nice guy but sure liked to stay loaded. He actually used to drive his mower to the nearest bar, which was several miles from their home, little place called the Highland Bar, which is where I met him, introduced by my Dad.

Before Hwy 96 went 4 lanes recently, there was a little bridge abut 4 miles from here that George smacked into with his truck. It's about half a mile before the right turn into his neighborhood. After some repairs, they installed a green TN state highway sign on it with 'George Jones' mentioned!

We used to drive by their house when the boys were small to admire the huge display of Christmas lights.

Maybe there was something with him and roads numbered 9x. The Highland Bar was on HWY 98 between Lakeland and Bartow. But they didn't live on that road, but the one that intersected it at the bar.
5xx, really can't remember now, haven't been in that area in a few decades. The road ran from HWY 36 to 98.
What we locals always called "The Highlands" because of the change in elevation up and down. Amazing for skateboarding. lol.

Two things happened that kind of amused me:

This was taken in New Orleans when the attack happened. Read the signs. They say there is NO PD.

No police department???

I got this receipt. Notice the caption on the indicated item.

They abbr too much. It's the butter spray for greasing pans.

As a kid, those were steep!
Plus I was trying to buy decent equipment as well with limited financial resources. Thank goodness for Dynakits.

I did have a part time job in college to help buy this stuff, but our fraternity house monthly beer bill was more than the monthly rent. 😵‍💫

Now I don't want any of our friends in Michigan or Idaho telling me 8" of snow is nothing. It's something.
One of the things I appreciate about living in the Treasure Valley is that we get anout 2” of accumulated snow anout three times each winter. When I lived near DC, we usually got about 12” three times each winter.

8” isn’t trivial, but it’s survivable. Hunker down and once it’s over, dig out the snow blower.

I have the same problem...I have so much stuff to repair and in the process of setting up a small recording studio for my wife and I.....and not counting the things I have to do around the house...this is going to be a very, very busy year for sure.....
When I retired, my dad told me that in six months I’d be so busy that I’s wonder how I ever had enough time to go to work. He knew his stuff, and he knew his son!

Yep, that was what was on the air when we got married. Golden anniversary in three weeks.

The biggest myth about retirement is that one is going to have the time to do everything one had planned to do.

Of course, wonderful distractions become plentiful. This forum being a case in point.

This is a simple video, recorded from inside the cockpit of a 747 landing at O'Hare. I mean, I don't know why it makes me more nervous watching this, than not knowing anything at all. Seeing the pilot fidget around...eh. you know. lol

I hate flying. Every time I walk down that extendo-tube walkway I'm sure it will be last. I do not have a fear of flying. I have a fear of crashing. Still I've always gone where I need to go.
