oh, those were hilarious timesWell, that had to suck. I wouldn't want to babysit anyone who was tripping. No thanks.
Myself and friends were too busy working, and in the small amounts of spare time.. hunting / fishing. Never got into anything drug-wise at all. A beer once in a while. One boring dude I guess....oh, those were hilarious times
Okay. A few weeks back, i was at a bowling tournament where they were giving out free Dude Wipes. I grabbed a handful and stuffed them in my coat pocket. This week, at senior discount day at my local grocery store, i was standing in line, and i reached in my pocket to retrieve my wallet. One of the Dude Wipes fell out and landed on the floor. The woman in front of me turned around, looked down at the package on the floor, then looked back at me and said, "Goodness! At your age you're still using condoms!?"

Geez, I must be an old fart. Never bought any of those, and I doubt if I could recognize any of the songs. Not 1979 but close. Just happened to see this short list of hard rock/metal albums from 1980 on UCR today. Good memories.

I dabbled in smoking a few “controlled substances.” Never found the experience pleasant.Myself and friends were too busy working, and in the small amounts of spare time.. hunting / fishing. Never got into anything drug-wise at all. A beer once in a while. One boring dude I guess....
The only one I have is the Def Leppard, but I bought it some years later when I got into their more popular albums.Geez, I must be an old fart. Never bought any of those, and I doubt if I could recognize any of the songs.
I can believe you wouldn't own most of them but I'm sure you would recognize some of the songs if you heard them.Geez, I must be an old fart. Never bought any of those, and I doubt if I could recognize any of the songs.
I've heard of most of those bands, but unless it was part of my video juke box project (did everything it was supposed to do except sell at a profit), I wouldn't know them. If asked, I'd be surprised if I could hum any of them.I can believe you wouldn't own most of them but I'm sure you would recognize some of the songs if you heard them.
Van Halen, Rush, Black Sabbath, AC-DC, Def Leppard? Really???!
You couldn't have possibly lived your life in this country without hearing songs from these bands. Commercials, movies, television shows, sporting events, etc.
The volume on mine goes up with speed, the idea being to drown out road noise. It was too aggressive by default, I had to work out how to put it on a lower setting. This is a 2002 Mini Cooper S.I have a truly horrible idea: a car that changes the tempo of your music depending on the speed you drive.
Several small companies I worked for (writing computer software) had to lay me off over the years because they had the same problem.unless it was part of my video juke box project (did everything it was supposed to do except sell at a profit)
It could be a lot of fun the other way around - the music tempo could determine the speed. Play the new Billy Cobham Quadio release and create instant bumper cars.I have a truly horrible idea: a car that changes the tempo of your music depending on the speed you drive.
Anybody wanna invest?
THE ZOO GANG
There is a relatively new TV channel here in the UK called Rewind TV mainly showing old programmes from the 60s, 70s and 80s some of which I remember fondly and for some of which I have no recollection. The other day I caught the last few minutes of this programme, The Zoo Gang a sort of crime drama, and was fascinated by the cast including Sir John Mills and Peter Cushing among others. But the biggest surprise was when the end credits were rolling to what sounded like typical 70s TV theme music and the credit stated "by Paul and Linda McCartney". What?? It finished very shortly after that so I had no time to "tune in".
Anyway, I did some digging and discovered that Paul M released it in the UK in 1974 as the B-side to "Band On The Run". I need to find out if there is another episode of this short lived series - only 6 episodes were made - to hear the whole piece at the start and end of the programme. I found some good background to the creation and release of this piece including a deliberate clone here:
https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/song/zoo-gang/
and I now see that the series is available on blu-ray and I guess that it would be a pretty random search to find that if you didn't already know!
Is it just me that knew nothing about this??![]()
It was the last song on disc 2 of the re-issue of Band On The Run from 2010 as part of the Paul McCartney Archive Collection. Thanks for this GOS. As this is a remastered version do you happen to know if it was included on a Band On The Run re-release? Is there any mention of the TV series? It's also interesting as using the famous people on the album cover with it sort of makes them seem like the Zoo Gang. I was very fortunate to see Macca in concert in December and during the show he used a film of these guys at the time of shooting the album cover which I hadn't seen before, although I seem to be a little behind the curve where Macca's involved.![]()
Very little UK TV made it to the US in the 1970s.I had no idea that is was the theme song for a TV series. Perhaps if the series had been more successful it would be common knowledge.
Back in Black By AC/DC?Geez, I must be an old fart. Never bought any of those, and I doubt if I could recognize any of the songs.
