thank you verrrrry much!
the updated 4k version of the Cambridge Audio CXU looks interesting.. might be the one..!? 🤔
Not good news I'm afraid Adam. The word on the street, is that the newer 4K Blu ray players are not able to rip SACD's. Some clever IT person may be able to overcome this in the future but certainly no one has up to now..grr
Although the recent updated list of those that can is perhaps not too disheartening as people find away around Sony's PITA encoding.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. My first time posting to QQ, though I've popped in a few times over the years. I own hundreds of 5.1 SACD's and DVD-A's.

I found a Sony 5100 on eBay and began the process yesterday, connected to my router via ethernet with both the player and my windows laptop. I noticed it's marginally faster this way (just over 3 mb/s) than using wi-fi only on the laptop.

My contribution: for those of you who've had challenges ripping Blue Oyster Cult and Handel, I have a theory. I believe that when foreign language accents (i.e the umlaut in BOC) are automatically used in creating the Windows folder, it "crashes" the process (i.e. it's a Windows problem). I had this problem repeatedly with the Janos Starker Bach Suites for Solo Cello (an accent on the 'o' in 'Janos'). I tried to download the Hungarian language pack for Windows, but it kept failing for some reason. Then I decided to just rip the .iso (with cue sheet) and it worked like a charm. Same for the DSDIFF Edit Master. I believe they both worked because they directly created files onto my hard drive without actually having to first create a folder with unusual characters.

I'm not sure if this is a product of whatever machine you're using and how it decides to tag the discs, or whether it's just part of the disc indexing itself. But that's the theory I'm going with right now. Of course, this poses extra challenges when trying to actually play the file on my Oppo or Audirvana (Mac/Windows audio software). I've decided to still archive the Bach Suites because the SACD is out-of-print (though you can still buy the DSD file from Acoustic Sounds). The ISO loads nicely into Audirvana.

That's what I had noticed (if you read back to Post #79). I was not sure if it was a copy-guard ploy, so it must be a Windows challenge as you suggest.

How do I associate a port with the IP address for my Oppo 105? Port forwarding rule? With the previous router/modem it used to be 2002. I have no idea how to set it up on the new router/modem.

The system should just assign a port once it finds the Oppo on the network.

I was totally unaware of this player's existence. Does anyone on this forum own one? Seems it's no longer available.

No DACs. Like a BRD transport.

Says unable to open. I have the right address but how do I know what port to use? Tried 2002. Looked into router and says player is connected. I do the ping test and says ok but the test button says port 2002 of address is inaccessible.
Did you ever solve this issue? I have exactly the same problem...

Hello @winespark sorry you're having issues; sometimes it takes a while to get this set up properly and running, don't give up! It's important to read through the thread and study all the details and screen shots to make sure you're configured properly. Make sure you have Java installed and here is couple of earlier posts of mine that might help:
https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/fo...sed-for-sacd-ripping.26078/page-5#post-423881
and info on the following post #86 also.

Keep working at it, as it is well worth it once it's all set up and ripping, especially if you want to archive a large collection.
Let us know how things are going, and if you still have issues usually someone here speaks up with an idea that will solves things.

All,

I just found this thread and found a S5100 machine to try this out on. It is currently sitting at software version M15.R.0093. I did the setup on the player from the 1st page for the DSD output as off, BD internet connection off, SACD Layer on, and Quick start mode on. I also extracted the necessary files onto a usb 2 pny attache memory stick which was formatted in FAT32. My memory stick has the following files on it. I think the buda folder came from the player itself since I didn't add it and extracted directly to the drive. When I look at the drive on the screen it says usb 2. My initial issue is when I plug the usb stick into the back of the S5100 and hit the power button the tray does not open. I tried it both connected to the tv with hdmi and without it being connected.

I assume my ping and test will not work because of that, but just in case my IP address of the player is 10.0.0.231 from reading the directions I think the sacdextract gui should read 192.168.2.231.2002 Is that correct?

I guess since the tray is not opening nothing else will work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

mid218: You should not hit the power button when you plug the usb stick into the back of the S5100. The unit should already be "On," and when you plug in the stick the Auto-Scipt file on the stick will open the drawer after several seconds. Wait at least 5 seconds for the drawer to open.

If the address of the player is really 10.0.0.231 then it should be set to 10.0.0.231:2002
Notice the colon before 2002, not dot

Hi and Welcome,
In the details of the USB stick, I am not seeing the all important Autoscript folder. Are you sure you have the USB set up exactly as required?
It is a common error which many people, including myself, initially have problems with.
Hope that helps.
Another Mike :)
