I read your thread but the Sony was still available everywhere at the time.yes recently i indeed opened a thread about it....they still sell us discs, but where do i play them? in the microwave?
Do you have a link, thanks?I see that a big Norwegian retailer have +100 in stock, so still available here. I've had mine for years for watching UHD movies and as backup for my Oppo 105. Long may they live.![]()
Don't think they ship abroad, the retailer is called Elkjøp.Do you have a link, thanks?
Still available from AmazonUS for $248Does anyone know whether Sony hast stopped production of this player? At least in Europe there is barely stock at dealers and for remaining players prices are rocketing even for used or refurbished ones!
They had one: UBP-X1100ES. That model was discontinued more than three years ago, leaving the X800 as Sony's flagship model. Frankly, I don't like having a screen glowing when listening to music, especially surround mixes. When Best Buy posted a returned X1100 at a Louisville location, I gratefully drove 300 miles to retrieve it.Maybe they woke up to the fact that not having any readout screen was a big negative for todays market. A universal player should have a way to read the menus either off a CD or a BD. A 800M3 that had a full readout plus play most of the esoteric disc formats even at twice the current retail pricing would be a market killer.
Seem to already be creeping up in price, new is now $278+. Maybe they're subscribed to this thread.
I can't speak about this unit in particular but most have an adjustable screen brightness to taste.Frankly, I don't like having a screen glowing when listening to music, especially surround mixes. When Best Buy posted a returned X1100 at a Louisville location, I gratefully drove 300 miles to retrieve it.
