Has anyone used an integrated amp as a power amp with the SM? I mean, connecting via rca from the SM's output to the integrated inputs and from it to a pair speakers

It makes sense. I'm using a receiver as a power amp for it, and it gives me a master volume control, access to the bass and treble controls (something many receivers with multichannel inputs don't allow), and the capability to run more inputs through the SM.

Not with the SM particularly, but for years I used an integrated amp (includes phono preamp, tape loop, tone controls, other inputs) for the back speakers, just using the tape loop inputs, which bypasses a few extraneous functions. It worked well for about fifty years, until I swapped it out for something that would alsomdrive my Atmos speakers (Emotiva BasX 6).
