A few years back I was very close to pulling the trigger on a used copy of the HFPA 5.1 Blu-ray version I found at Sonic Boom in Toronto for ~$100. I’m sure glad I held off!

I think an SDE Blu-Ray is pretty much a given considering their relationship with them in the past and there’s a good chance it will include the earlier 5.1 mix too! And hopefully the original and 2014 stereo mixes for good measure 😀

TFF ‘Songs From The Big Chair’ is showing as available in Dolby Atmos in AU this morning on Apple Music. Should show up elsewhere later in the day.

Thank-you for the heads up! I just checked my Apple music app, and it’s the featured album today! And I’m going to go listen to this great album, after I post this!

To all of those who do Atmos streaming, how does "Broken" sound? Both halves of the song were Penteo upmixes on the old 5.1 because the original multitracks couldn't be found.

I think it's very likely we'll get a SFTBC/Seeds of Love bundle from SDE... There's not much you could add to the box sets of either except a few stray tracks. Paul said they found a great version of "Mothers Talk" too late to include on the box set in 2014 so that could show up as a bonus track much like the two Mike Howlett tracks did on The Hurting.

I atmos stream, but I'm downmixing to 5.1. Both halves of "Broken" didn't feel too discrete to me. So they may still be upmixes.

Just posted on the band's social media. In the video Roland says that there will be anniversary editions coming throughout the year. Gotta believe there will be an SDE blu-ray with the new atmos mix.

Great to see that this is out on streaming, physical would be nice... of course, we're still waiting on The Seeds of Love Atmos mix which was completed nearly two years ago. Wonder if that will eventually come to streaming as well.

A combined set would be an instant purchase for me, even with the VAT/shipping.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing on an Atmos setup. Especially, the live reprise... that doesn't sound immersive at all. Were those the only two tracks that were upmixed on the original 5.1? I couldn't remember.

I thought the Atmos Shout was a bit conservative mix-wise but otherwise, loved the new Atmos mix of the album. Standouts for me are The Working Hour and Mothers Talk. I hope they include extras on any physical release. Would love to hear surround versions of the b-sides and one of the many re-recorded Mothers Talk mixes.

Yes, those were the two.

I haven't listened to the new mix (I only have 5.1 anyway) but I thought the 5.1 mix of "Shout" was a bit conservative as well. Not sure what's up with that track that Wilson didn't do more with it, but it does seem different from the rest of the album which is spectacular.

Based on posts like this I'm not expecting the Atmos to be much different from the 5.1 when "folded down". But we shall see. One of my VERY favorite albums of all time.

Funny, I thought "Shout" was a trip in Atmos. It starts off like the 5.1 with the bells moving left-to-right behind you, but then the bass synth (or whatever that is) appears discretely in the side speakers when the vocal enters. The Fairlight CMI flute sound is mixed almost entirely to the height channels, which is super cool. Roland's double-tracked vocals start off in the front, then switch to the rear after the big drum fill at 3:20. I also thought the lead vocals in the center speaker seemed more prominent and better-integrated with the rest of the soundstage than in the 2014 mix.

this brings up an interesting question, which is that, if/when there's an SDE Blu-Ray of this Atmos mix (which I'm sure will be happening this year) will we also get brand new stereo & 5.1 remixes too? my guess would be yes, it seems to me like SW has been improving his King Crimson and Yes remixes so I don't see why he wouldn't do the same for this album

:)

My issue with the 2014 mix was never so much the surroundy-ness, just that there's kind of a muddy-ness to it that detracts from the overall effect.

Interested to hear this new mix.
