Received mine yesterday (NC, USA). Great mix, one thing I noticed when I ripped for listening in my car, there are distinct volume differences between the Atmos bed (7.1, TrueHD) and the DTS, and not listed as DTS-HD shockingly, bed (5.1), with the DTS version being louder. Anyone know why that may be? Thanks!

Listening now in Dolby Atmos, quite good. Arrived yesterday. Lots of movement in the bed and heights.

One little negative, nothing to do with sound, is the onscreen chapters.

All white, with no movement, not exactly great for the screen.
Large font, STEVEN WILSON REMIXES with small font of song name.

I would think that with all the real estate it would have been prefrered to add TEARS FOR FEARS-THE HURTING.
If you never heard this music before and walked into room with screen on, of course, anyone would think this music is STEVEN WILSON'S.

It's a bummer I know... But back in the day (ten years or so ago now), one of the big ideas behind 'High Fidelity Pure Audio' (HFPA) Blu-ray-Audio discs were that you could play them without needing to switch on a display!

As these new breed of audio discs don't conform to the original HFPA conception, I'm with you, the video element could be a lot more inventive...

The -18 LKFS loudness requirement for Atmos pretty much always means it'll be a few dB quieter than accompanying stereo & 5.1 streams on the same disc.

I listened thru the entire Atmos disc twice last night and was quite
impressed with the everything about it. Steven worked his magic and
made this 1983 recording sound like 2023 not only with the Atmos mix
but also the overall sound quality and clarity of the mix. I didn't
detect any juicing of the top end to get the added detail, it still sounds as smooth
as ever if not more so.
Thanks Steven, what more can I say.

The only nit I have with The Hurting and SFtBC are many of the deeper cuts being fairly uninteresting to me. Not that they're bad, just not my jam so to speak. But the half of both albums I like I really like, especially the songs they picked as singles/hits which lean toward their more accessible style. For whatever reason, Change isn't a song I'm super familiar with. I was surprised to see in the discography that it was a charting single. Mad World and Pale Shelter I know intimately in comparison, maybe they've just had more radio play in the years since release(?).

I can see revisiting this album a bit more now that I have a definitive version to enjoy. And I still haven't heard the surround, which I'm sure is only going to increase my enjoyment of the recording.

The highest 10 I can give.

I swear, I have absolutely no control. I had stated firmly that I wasn't going to buy this title, yet one review like that from @Juggsnelson and I cave...within minutes of reading it, no less. Well, all that money and time put into a 7.1.4 Atmos system allows me to justify it. Right? :ROFLMAO:

I suspect that much of this material will shine compared to the plain vanilla stereo when presented by Steven Wilson in Atmos.

Check out the extended version - imo it's definitive. (Also includes a fun sample from Pale Shelter.) And then there's the ultra funky live versions... Great stuff.

It's my favorite Atmos release of the year thus far. The 7.1.4 presentation will knock your socks off :)
Wow, high praise coming from you, Mr. uh, ...corne! :) Mine arrived today and am looking forward to listening to it. Love what SW has done with their previous releases. Rivers of Mercy from TTP is an Atmos demo track for me.

Sorry!!! I love this album and I swear this is the best it's ever going to get!
