Any specific information on TACET's future surround releases of orchestral music to share? Or are you just making a general comment?

I did notice that part of Auryn's cycle of Mozart's string quartets was released in surround on SACD here
No, as in I just ordered it. No idea as to their release plans, although they don't seem to be producing BD-As anymore.

Your link didn't work for me. This one? It is excellent and

There are, also, three excellent ones in multichannel and, of these, I prefer the Gielen. Of course, Hotter is unique!

Oops, that's what happens when it's late and I'm too tired to copy and paste correctly. This is the one I meant to say I bought; as far as I can tell, it's the same as the one you posted but with a different cover.

But Gurrelieder in multichannel, you say? Now that's what I call good news! I wonder though, how discrete are the mixes - ambient or immersive?

To be clear, no clue if they'll take my suggestion. Here's an article about recording it though: https://stereosociety.com/20/Gurrelieder.shtml. It was released as a quad LP: https://www.discogs.com/Pierre-Boulez-Conducts-Schoenberg-Gurre-Lieder/release/8179211

That's a great article. It makes me hope that DV release this on SACD as you've suggested and also it makes me appreciate that recording an orchestra well, especially a monster orchestra such as that needed to perform Gurrelieder, really is quite a challenge. Fingers crossed DV give this one a go!

Has anyone heard the 5.0 mix of this recording of Duruflé's and Fauré's requiems (with solo organ accompaniment) on BIS?

I recently purchased the 24-bit/44.1kHz stereo download, and I like the performance (to an extent), but now I'm sad I didn't buy it from here with surround included. Given that it was originally recorded in PCM with a sample rate of 44.1kHz, I don't think I'll be running out to buy the SACD, but I'm tempted to see if I can "return" my download to 7digital and buy this one instead... If the surround is any good. Is it? I'm guessing it's all naturally recorded ambience in the rears (from a five-microphone array).

Who is DV?

Yes, the rear channels are ambient... not über discrete. Having said that, the rears definitely add a nice depth to the sound image. Chorus and organ... Oh yeah! This is precisely the kind of music I get so much pleasure out of in surround sound. The music rises up and creates a dome effect in one's room. Magical!

If you're ever looking for more music in this vein, AEOLUS has released 2 outstanding multichannel recordings of César Franck's choral music accompanied by organ & various instruments. Here These works are not as well known as Fauré's Requiem, but they're just as beautiful & moving IMHO. The rear channels are ambient but what a glorious natural resonance they recreate!

One really useful thing about the forum on SA-CD.net was that I found about cool releases as they were coming (or recently released) I figured I'd try to do that a bit here - just looked at Pentatone's release planning page (https://www.pentatonemusic.com/releases), and noticed a few things that caught my attention:

Schubert - Winterreise
Ian Bostridge, Thomas Adès
Franz Peter Schubert

César Franck / OPL
Gustavo Gimeno , Orchestre Philharmonique Luxembourg
César Franck
(Pentatone maybe be duplicating themselves on this one, given the title that follows, but we don't have enough versions of Franck's Symphony on SACD, not counting Japanese reissues of older recordings: https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=4102)

...Fauré's Requiem...
It's actually Duruflé's that drew me to the BIS release. I'm a lifelong choral singer, and I've sung both a few times. Fauré's has its moments, but I find it rather milquetoast on the whole. Duruflé's, on the other hand, moves me deeply. I'm not familiar with Franck's choral output; I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

Yes, Duruflé's requiem is sublime. You might also want to check out Channel Classics multichannel recording of it. The rear channels are ambient but as with BIS they add a wonderful overall immersive quality. Beautiful performance as well. HERE

Of course the download version is also available on Channel’s website HERE

Channel's cycle of Mahler Symphonies continues (or concludes) with Ivan Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra playing Mahler's 7th Symphony. It's not officially coming out for another month, but Channel will sell it to you directly now - available as a SACD or DSD/PCM multichannel download, up to the original recording resolution of DSD256: https://www.channelclassics.com/catalogue/38019-Mahler-Symphony-No-7/

I'm personally just ordering the SACD.

Thanks for the heads up! It's great that Jared is still making MC SACDs.
Ah yes, the good ole days of the SA-CD.net forum. ;) I appreciate your efforts with posting information of the latest multichannel Hirez releases. I am not as good at tracking down valuable new info, but I'll certainly do what I can.

It's a bummer they've moved to downloads instead - and that they've set their price point so high. I'd be purchasing many more if their price point was closer to eClassical. I think only Rachel Podger and Ivan Fischer are still getting issued on SACD.
