A couple of blowouts in the first round of CFB - at least the games I saw. Can’t say SMU showed up against Penn State, who will face my beloved Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Eve.

Ashton Jeanty feels he has something to prove. This could be awesome.
Unfortunately those games had me questioning the new 12 team format - maybe 8 is enough?

BSU has Heisman runner-up Ashton Jeanty, who is one of the most amazing runners I’ve seen. One of his remarkable stats is “yards after contact.” He slips tackles like nobody else. On top of that, we have a QB who can run and pass, three excellent receivers in Camper, Caples and Bolt. I haven’t heard if Tubinger is healthy, but if he is, there’s a significant defensive strength as well.

It’s worth noting that in the first game of the season, BSU played Oregon, the #1 ranked team and so far undefeated. They lost by a last-second field goal. They’re tough, and they show up every game. My dream is to see a rematch, which would be for the national championship.

Yeah - but - isn’t taking away the Smurf turf like taking away a super power?! 🤔

It’s true they are over 80% at home, but they’ve won a lot on the road this year, too. Not to mention that both teams are undefeated in their Fiesta Bowl appearances.

I think Penn State is going to have a scrap on their hands.

I agree with you 100%, 8 is enough, but money talks. Someone told me that they are expanding the format to 14 teams in a few years. That’s even more dilution.

I hope so because that’s how this old fart plans to spend New Years Eve.
Personally, I’d rather see a double-elimination playoff, but that means a lot more wear and tear on college kids.
The kids are already being used as cannon fodder for Disney/ESPN and Draft Kings.

I just watched the Tampon Bay vs CowGirls highlights. Interesting game. I hope that Tampon Bay can win out, and Atlanta lose one more game, as I'd like to see Mayfield in the playoffs. He's a gamer.

This kicker Aubrey on Dallas must have a bionic leg. He made three FG's from 55+ yards and the ball hit the net behind the goal posts...and they were well up on the net. Look at this pic of the ball as it was falling after hitting the net on his second 58 yard field goal attempt.

As much as I have disdain for the CowGirls, it would be great to have a kicker like Aubrey in the playoffs. The NFL should have a rule where each team that makes the playoffs can hire one mercenary player from any team that has been eliminated. Besides, it would give Draft Kings one more betting category with which to prey on their clientele.

Jake Bates from Detroit went for a 65 yarder yesterday. In Chicago Windy City - outdoors. It had the distance just a tad to the right for a miss
