I like that I don't have to be contrarian - love my hops, but love the sours....like a good light crisp lager on a hot day, a porter or stout on a cold winter evening.....

Okay, who am I kidding - any of them whenever the mood hits!

No, I totally understand. Last night, I drank an Irish Stout and tonight I started drinking a Stella Artois and it tasted like ****.....until I was on my second one. Must of been my taste buds.

The good ol' Belgian strong ales also get a look-in on cold nights, over here, as well as your namesake brew! 😋🍺

Sharing with Mrs D and her mom....Ex Novo "Cactus Wins the Lottery" prickly pear berliner weisse (4.3% abv, 9 ibu).

Yeah I've been sick of the overblown "all of the hops" IPA thing for decades. Portland was on the forefront of that whole thing and people don't seem to want to let it go.

I think it was the Northwest in general. I lived in Seattle for years and can seem to remember early to mid nineties? May have been earlier.

Overall, the hoppy, bitter beer movement was a NW led thing, but Oregon brewers really led the way on it. Seattle has always been a follower of Portland trends when it comes to craft beer.

Interesting Google fact:
What city brews the most beer?

Chicago is now the biggest beer city in the country. Chicago has 167 breweries, more than double the number in 2013 and the most of any other U.S. city. Denver has the second most with 158 breweries, and Seattle had the third most with 153.

With the number of new breweries that have opened in the last two years around here the numbers for NM have gone up for sure.

Some family here for July 4th dinner, sharing with Mrs D and her mom, a sour as usual, Steel Bender "Mango Dynamite" kettle sour (6.1% abv, 5 ibu). They just released a peach dynamite, will have to get a 6-pack of that to try.

Okay, so dinner was with the grandkids parents is done (the two that live with us plus the two they've had since we had to take in these two)...chaotic, loud and rambunctious. They're out setting off some low-key fireworks and sparklers and I'm trying for a few minutes of calm before the final onslaught of the evening. No deals or links but I've posted before so nothing new here....
