Bryan Adams last night. Great show, no opening act and he played for nearly 2 1/2 hours without leaving the stage. The band got a break part way through but he continued with an acoustic set. Coming up this Sunday, Randy Bachman.

JUST received my tickets for Phish. I'm a row up from where this picture was taken (a neat site. I'll take a pic of my row for more data).

And King Gizzard absolutely ruled. I held off on posting about it because: I didn't take basically any pictures, but also I was 20 feet (on the other side of the soundboard) from a guy who (now) goes by Mystery Jack (the name of a deep cut King Gizzard track) but apparently was an old school Dead taper... and he recorded the whole thing in pretty good quality. This is my third time seeing them, but the first since they've become pretty jam-bandy, and there's no turning back now, they're a bonafide jam band. Check the third song (Slow Jam 1) and the final song (Float Along Fill Your Lungs) for the big jams of the night, but there's also a good ol >Drums in Oddlife, and Lava was a live debut.

The venue is brand new, King Gizzard was supposed to be like the first or second band to play it back in 2020, and it's designed for sound first and foremost. It might be one of the best sounding venues/shows I've ever been to.

(strangely, Mystery Jack was also at my second show)

This evening I went to see Wishbone Ash at the Coliseum in Aberdare here in South Wales. They played the whole of their album Argus. Their support band was Puzzletree from South Wales. The best picture I got thanks to my crappy phone camera was the tops of Ash's heads
😂
good gig though
👍

Mike Truscott – drums. Mark Abrahams – guitar. Andy Powell – guitar, vocals. Bob Skeat – bass, backing vocals

Going to see the Meridian Symphony this Saturday evening. They seem to be an amateur orchestra with just a few shows each year, but $13 for a symphony ticket and $35 for a season ticket doesn’t seem like much for a live orchestra.

I’m not expecting the National Symphony or even Long Beach, but I’m looking forward to it.

well, by recent I mean...
it is FORTY YEARS to the day that I first saw RUSH at the Spectrum (I also saw them the next day, fanboy that I IS), will never forget it-I NEVER saw them again!...they played almost all of "Signals" and it was AWESOME!!!!!
Here is a vid from 1983 cause no one recorded that gig.. well, I DID but those cassettes are LONG GONE!
RIP Neil Peart!

We may be stretching the definition, but at least you saw that tour two months more recently than I did. :rocks
[Sorry, couldn't resist, as I dug out my old ticket stubs over the weekend.]

I am so bummed out. I woke up with a scratchy throat and minor nasal congestion with a 100 degree fever.
I can't go to The Fillmore to see The Allman Betts Band tonight. It wouldn't be fair to the three others I was going with let alone all the people at the show.
I was planning on wearing a mask anyway, but getting home late and all that kind of stuff, I just want it to be gone by Monday instead of blowing up into a bad flu or Covid. ****, ****, that is how I feel.
I have been wanting to see them for the longest time and they finally come to SF and the Fillmore to boot.
The worst part about the whole thing the three that where going with me and the one that has now taken my place never even heard of them, man they are in for a big treat.
I told my wife to take some videos.
The good news I am really enjoying listening to the entire new box set of Frank Zappa, super good. I am also catching up on re-formatting a bunch of files for the USB for the car.
Oh, I am going to text my wife now to buy me a T shirt

Dude, there is an incredible amount of influenza, etc., going around. I mean, for real. This easily might be the most sickness I've had, and witnessed in my life. No ****. And, people are getting sick, and staying sick. Or, if they think they get over it, only to have it come back a month later and kick their ***.

Totally OK today, went on a easy 6 mile walk. I don't know, my wife at least bought me a T shirt.
I got Covid in June, I am a super strong person can go for years without getting sick, but since I got Covid I have had three little fever bouts, this one was the lightest of the three.
Sucks man.
I chopped a part of my index finger off on Thanksgiving, showing off with the knife, wouldn't stop bleeding so I went to the ER the next day, they put Krazy Glue on it. There was a line to get in, when I left I swear there must have been a 100 people in there all looking like they where sick as dogs.

On my local BBC TV news (Devon & Cornwall) they asked people to only go to the Hospital A&Es (we have 3 main hospitals covering a large area) if a life threatening emergency due to a large number of Flu (more Flu than Covid) cases being admitted. I've had my Flu & 4th Covid jabs already.

So far, so good this winter, but it’s cold enough outside (unusually cold this autumn) that I’m not going in public much. Shots are all up to date, but, man, it’s miserable in Idaho.

How was Bachman?
Randy was good, the latest iteration of his ‘every song tells a story’ concert. He‘s been doing this for 20 years or so now, always worth hearing what occurred when they wrote Guess Who/BTO songs, followed by playing each song. Guitar playing is still great, voice is showing its age a bit (like mine!).

Tragically my mom gave me covid so I will not be going to see Phish for all 4 nights at MSG as planned. However, I did curbside pickup a new iPad, so that if I’m too beat to watch the streams from the couch, I can watch them from my bed…

RPWL:

One of the finest German bands as many of us may know from their surround albums release a new album in March and are on tour in Europe and the UK in April. I shall definitely be going to at least one of their gigs. Tour details on their website RPWL - Tour

The UK venues demonstrate just how hard it is to get a decent break in the music industry. They have been making music for 25 years but still have a small fan base here. Everyone I have introduced them to has been blown away by how good they are. And yet these venues are tiny. One of them is a village hall in Oundle near Peterborough (East Midlands area) that does not seem to host many, if any other bands. The "What's On" page for the hall seems only to have mother & baby meetings, yoga sessions and local community events. I think I will go there to support the band (very nice guys who come for a chat after the gig) and to meet the other three members of the audience! :( Seriously I really hope there are a lot of people to fill the hall but how on earth is a small village hall going to properly market this fantastic band?? 🤔

Anyway, hoping their new album hits the spot as it is likely to be the main part of their set. Their last album "Tales From Outer Space" was a winner and the gig was excellent as they usually have some engaging video to compliment their performance.

Sorry for going on a bit but RPWL are absolutely one of my top 10 bands so I want to gently raise their profile whenever the chance arises.
