The Wolftrap in Virginia is a really cool venue.
Preservation Hall were there normal outstanding selves.
Lovett' Big Band was tight but he was a train wreck and we left as soon as it was polite to do so. (hint you can count the number of songs on one hand)

So Haircut 100 sounded pretty good, a few of their tracks were at a pace Lemmy would call fast.
ABC was great and the bass playing was very present.
Howard was Howard and put on a great set. I was super jazzed to see Nick on a stick and it was a hoot when they played Too Shy from one of his many bands.
A flashback to the early 80s but it was a very enjoyable night and I'm glad to have made it.

Lined up early for early merch (and got the poster I wanted, though not the foil variant… I would have needed to be in line at like 11 am mountain for that), explored the Shakedown Street, and got great seats for my 10th Phish show at Dicks Sporting Goods Park! Doing all 4 shows this weekend!

Crowded House in NYC on Wednesday evening with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge behind the band. The two younger Finns are really starting to make their mark in the band. Elroy is a really solid, energetic drummer. Liam is laying down solo killer solos and doing some really cool atmospheric stuff. Meanwhile Neil is still in very strong voice and Nick's bass playing is a solid as ever. And the boys are still as funny and fun as they've always been. Caught them again last night in CT. Each night they threw in some classic Split Enz for those of us who have been following Neil for 4+ decades now. And two nights of the Crowdies cost less than half what a night of Springsteen or Gilmour would cost.

Saw Beat last night in Austin. Incredible show. Danny Carey fit in perfectly although definitely different than Bruford. Vai was great too and it was interesting watching him getting the Fripp parts down with tapping instead of strange tunings. I had a blast.

Going to see a Marillion tribute band in Glasgow tonight, StillMarillion, looking forward to it

I had no idea that this band were actually from my home town of Glasgow, they play the Fish era of Marillion and a couple of Fish solo songs, I took a video but it’s too big to upload , they played most of the Market square heroes EP, a big chunk of Script for a jesters tear and Fugazi, 3 songs from Misplaced childhood and 2 from Clutching at straws, also The space from the H era, well over 2 hours and they had to stop because the venue had a strict time curfew

I went to the Beat concert in Atlanta last night with several friends and had a blast!


We got to hang around after the show to meet and talk to Adrian and Tony. They were very nice! Adrian also introduced us to his son and daughter that were at the show.

This coming Friday - Martin Turner (ex Wishbone Ash) and his band, at a small club near where I live (walking distance ) playing their Live Dates 2 set.

This coming Saturday - Big Big Train at Cadogan Hall in London.

David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall last night.........SUBLIME!
This concert had several 'pinch me' moments - I know how lucky I am to have been able to go. His new album had not quite drawn me in until I heard it live....it most definitely has now!

We saw The Marshall Tucker Band in Oroville last night.
90 minutes.
It was OK , tried to capture memories but Doug Gray original member, losing voice, but it was fun to get out of town.

We will be spending xmas and new year at our place in Gran canaria, today we bought tickets to see the “Symphonic rhapsody of Queen”, a tribute band with numerous singers and a full orchestra, happening on the 2nd of January, the last time we tried to see them it was sold out, this time they’re playing 3 nights so we got in quickly so as not to miss out again

My wife’s birthday is coming up and I usually take her to a live show for that occasion. So tomorrow evening will be spent with Tommy Castro and the Painkillers. Been about 20 years since we last saw him.

Just spent a joyous two nights taking in violinist Jenny Scheinman's "All Species Parade," with Carmen Staaf on piano, Adam Ratner on guitar, Tony Scherr on bass, and Mark Ferber on drums. People of the great Northwest, take note: they're playing Eugene tonight (Oct. 17, The Shedd), Portland on Friday (Blue Butler Studios - two shows), Seattle on Sunday (The Royal Room), and Vancouver on Monday (Capilano U). San Diego & L.A. next week. After that, you'll have to wait till Big Ears in the spring! Touring behind a fabulous new album that features guest spots from Bill Frisell, Nels Cline, and Julian Lage. Smokin'.

One of 17,000 at the Hollywood Bowl last night to near Joni Mitchell, with Brandi Carlisle leading the Joni Jam. An amazing setlist, heavy on the Hejira period, that included some live debuts and lots of tunes she hadn't performed for 25 years or more:

The onstage assemblage included familiar Joni Jammers (going back to the living room days)--plus newcomers like Jacob Collier on piano & keyboards. (He did an amazing synth solo on "God Must Be a Boogie Man" and a gorgeous arrangement of "Both Sides, Now.") In the second set the group expanded to include Wendy & Lisa, Annie Lennox, Robin Pecknold (of Fleet Foxes), and Jon Batiste, among others. Joni was in great spirits and decent voice: she sang all night long from her throne (though she stood at the end of the night), thumping along with her scepter, and artfully changed quite a few melodies so that she often ended up singing harmony as Carlisle and others chimed in to handle the high notes.

Lots of berets in the audience. With binoculars, the view from my seat wasn't bad.
