One I forgot about. Friday, November 8th: forward-thinking trombonist Ryan Keberle and his flagship band Catharsis. (We needed some, right about then.) A powerful quintet made up of A-list, New York-based, international musicians, playing original music that's a "potent blend of cinematic sweep and lush, ear-grabbing melodies” (LA Times). You can watch 'em on the NPR Tiny Desk Concert and buy their music on Bandcamp. Their new album has a very decent Atmos mix.

Took my 16 year old and her BF to see her first real rock concert. The "When We Were Young" festival in Las Vegas. Her favorite bands are My Chemical Romance and Pierce The Veil.

I haven't been to a big festival-type show in forever. Haven't missed them, but she had a great time. 55 bands across 6 stages, most of which I had never heard of before but I did enjoy a lot of the music.

Why she's such a fan of these ~20 year old bands? I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure that out of some 30,000 people there, I was the oldest person there and she the youngest. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Saw The Pineapple Thief last night and it was a phenomenal experience. Bought VIP tickets so I had to M&G the band as well as attend the acoustic set with the Q&A. I asked Bruce and Gavin about his framework on recording drums for Atmos, if he still pans them in stereo, and if that layout applies as well to other projects Bruce has mixed and in short he did say yes. Some other Atmos questions from the crowd, which made me happy, someone asked again about the release of the 2nd part of atmos mixes, and Bruce said that it will be out next year until Magnolia, I believe.
And Bruce asked for a show of hands of people who listen to music in Atmos, and at least I saw a dozen of hands, so it was a good result, Bruce was impressed on this.

When they signed my VIP laminate lanyard I told Bruce that I have a 9.2.4 setup and that I follow pretty much any of his releases, and that I'm a fan of his work. Gavin asked me how he sounded, and I replied that his drum sound on FOABP is beyond this world, and he he looked at Bruce and told him "thanks for that" me: That was elliot Scheiner / SW
The concert was insane, Gavin plays flawlessly, with such finesse. Venue had terrific acoustics. Place was packed, and we delivered, so did the band.
Randy Mcstine was also a good opener and I had a chance to meet him at the end of the show.

Just awesome....

I saw The Pineapple Thief at The Independent in San Francisco last night. My ears are still ringing and my back hurts from standing for 3 hours.
But, man it was so worth it. I couldn't believe that my idols Bruce Soord and Gavin Harrison where 15' in front of me.
We did not get an acoustic set like Alan's pictures above.
They blew me away how much rock/metal that they slanted to.
Bruce is quite the rock star with his snarled lip and blazing power chords. Actually a very good guitar player. The band in general was fantastic.
I am so happy I saw them, waking up this morning completely destroyed and loving it. I am having a Dry December, completely sober also.
Gavin's drumming everyone knows his technical ability but I was impressed at his strength and conviction to every note (hit) of each cymbal and drum.
Bruce said, one more show to go and that's it for this tour. They have a real cool bus and gear trailer, two roadies.
I will see them again in a heart beat, but I need a chair. :SB
Solo opening musician, not for me.
