The Meltdown in Mexico Blu-Ray is the best new surround release I bought last year.
Really looking forward to seeing this crack triple-drummer KC lineup live in a small venue.

Elton John was quite a show last night, he stretched out many tunes. Soloed songs, beautiful stage, great crowd. He seemed a little hoarse, chubbier than before, getting older, couldn't hit some of the previous high notes but didn't try. Glad I was able to see the show.

That's what I like about you as a poster.. sometimes because you are "unfiltered"(which I actually enjoy)people think you are rude or confrontational and I have noticed a conscious effort on your part to not be viewed that way....but when I see a post like this...it shows you can still give that "honest" feedback...and although I didn't see EJ...I've seen the greats when they get older...Like Billy Joel...and the smart ones don't try to hit those same notes they did years ago...but as a person commenting on that situation you didn't bash him...like so many music fans do....there was a realization on your part...and I wish more artists would come to this reality and not try to force the musical notes they can't do anymore... I hate seeing a former icon struggle with the music they once dominated...it's kinda sad...

Maybe if you aren't busy on July 10 at 8PM...you might want to check this out as the time is running out for seeing this one live

I first saw Robin Trower @ Golden Hall in San Diego in May 1975. Local hero Bill Lordan had just taken over the drum chair and they were supporting For Earth Below. Since the release of the previous Bridge of Sighs smash hit album the year before the size of his audience had grown considerably. Now we fast forward to his current day shows; smaller venues once again, yet no less fiery guitar playing. Like the gig down in Chattanooga, TN last year, a great little rock duo named Strange Vine from Fresno, CA opened the show. It was amazing what two men could do; the drummer would also play a Fender Rhodes piano type keyboard with one hand at times while drumming with the rest of his body! The other fellow plays some volcanic slide guitar and they both sing on top of that. They had a CD EP that I bought at this Nashville gig at the Marathon Music venue on March 16th, 2018. Robin Trower's group came out and got the crowd going immediately. They did play some great newer material and of course played the monster hits that were FM radio staples for years. Robin seemed at ease and you could really see him getting into it during some epic soloing. The younger rhythm section ably supported his every move.

Hey timbre4, great shows and photos! Trower always seemed to get compared with Hendrix, but I never saw it that way. I just enjoyed his music for what it was. I was fortunate to see him back in the 70's and it was special indeed. Also love Eric Johnson's playing, he is legendary for also being ultra sensitive to getting the right sound out of his equipment. I've never had a chance to see him live however.

One final note, we were very close to being neighbors, as a move to the Nashville area was considered by my wife and I. We have relatives there, but not sure that's going to happen now. Oh well, we still have QQ!

Great post, Tim!! Wonderful pix, as always.

Markie, your post was great, as well.

The place I come from has a long tradition of people on their "soapboxes." I'm too lazy to quote everyone's posts. So, here are a few random musings:

I try to take every concert for what it is, not what I want it to be. Wanting to see a 23 y.o. Reg Dwight in 2019 is an unrealistic expectation. Reveling in the experience of LISTENING & SEEING the Captain in person is my expectation. All of you who have loved him from the start, as I have, are bound to have favorites performed. I often love deep tracks the best of all. With a 50-year catalog, I probably won't hear Writing, Friends, Spiteful Child, Come Down in Time, Ego, or a host of others.

In October, we attended Joan Baez' Farewell Tour at the Chicago Theater. She was gracious enough to send us a promo of her latest CD. After hearing her voice crack and strain a bit, I expected the same live. In fact, she sounded great! Joan even addressed the issue of not being able to hit the notes she used to. Staying within the limitations of her instrument, she was stellar! BTW: a fave deep track of mine is Children and All That Jazz (CD-4/Q8 Diamonds.) The lyrics mentioned her current drummer, Gabriel Harris.

Jerry Douglas!! Is there anything that this guy isn't involved in? Transatlantic Sessions is great. Gotta get those DVD's. I saw a couple on PBS.

Wild with anticipation for Seun Kuti later in the month in Cleveland! I understand he is performing on the Grammys tonight and so might no longer be a well-kept secret. Caught his entourage live a few years back--unbelievable! The studio recordings don't even give you a clue!

Pineapple Thief US tour dates just announced, for near the end of 2019 :) All of the northeast/ mid-Atlantic venues I looked up are general admission with tickets going on sale Thursday or Friday.

The dates are here for those that like a quick link to click:

I hoping to be able to catch a show - the Denver (Englewood) show is a Friday which is convenient, but sometimes in December the weather can make the drive a real problem, especially through the CO/NM pass. Phoenix is on the Sunday - a little less convenient but perhaps still can be arranged and the weather is less likely to be an issue.

Free gig on the web tomorrow

Red Hot Chilli Peppers ...... Live in Egypt.... performing in front of the pyramids!! First time since the DEAD did it in the 70’s.....start time 2 PM EDT

Be there or be square or same bat time same bat channel

Sorry I don’t have a web address just heard about on the radio in my car

Heading out to see the new version of Fleetwood Mac tonight. I should boycott them for firing Lindsey Buckigham, but they replaced him with one of my favorite songwriters, Neil Finn. Filling Lindsey's shoes will be a difficult task, but having seen Neil dozens of times, I know he is more than capable. Hopefully there will be some good chemistry there.

Going to see Graham Nash at the Akron Civic Theater tonight. We have seen him with CSN&Y in Columbus (reunion tour), and with CSN at Woodstock "94". Should be extra fun with all of the St Patrick's day celebrations going on in downtown Akron. Been spinning "Songs For Beginners" and "Songs For Survivors" in 5.1 for the psych up.
