Things I should have known about my favorite artists

I learned a couple of interesting things yesterday. Perhaps I'm the only one on the forum who didn't know these two facts, but they were real eye openers to me.

- He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother: That is session musician Reg Dwight playing piano on that song.

- Goldfinger: Guitar played by session musician Jimmy Page. He was awed by Welsh legend Shirley Bassey's performance.

This info makes these two songs more special to me.

I was surprised to learn that Robin McNamara was a man. Listening to the hit "Lay a Little Lovin' on Me" I always thought that he was a woman. Sad to read of his passing in 2021.

Bet all you late 60's/early 70's oldies fans own at least one of these records:

Tony Burrows sang on several one-hit wonder songs under different group names, Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" (February 1970); the Brotherhood of Man's "United We Stand"; and the Pipkins' novelty song "Gimme Dat Ding" (April 1970). He also recorded with White Plains on "My Baby Loves Lovin'," in which he shared lead vocals with Ricky Wolff.[3] These songs were all recorded within nine months of each other, but were all released around the same time in early 1970. His other one-hit wonder group was the First Class's "Beach Baby" (July 1974).[4] The Brotherhood of Man would have an additional minor and regional hit with Burrows as singer, 1972's "Reach Out Your Hand",[5] before its founder Tony Hiller created an entirely new Brotherhood of Man with an entirely different lineup.
