I tried wo different things. Direct to Disc and Save to ISO and burn the ISO with ImgBurn.

Both discs play fine in the Oppo. I did not add any menu pictures or changed any settings in Cirlinca. Are your settings the standard?

Hi Robert,
Thanks for trying that. Yes all settings are standard, and I'd burnt to disc using IMG as well. I'll do PC power cycle, sometimes it takes a hard reboot for Windows updates to fully work through the system. I might try burning a Blu-ray as well, and I might also do a burn with an up sample in case its the Denon that's acting up with 24-bit/44kHz, it shouldn't be though. Its all very frustrating!

What makes it a bit confusing is that Tim actually recorded a song with Nosound, did an entire record with Giancarlo Erra, and collaborated with him on other stuff as well.

I went back and re-did the unzip, and got the same unable to encrypt error for _MACOSX with the pop-up giving Continue, Skip, Cancel, I selected Continue, and got more files this time (so I must have accidently hit Skip or Cancel before). Generated the DVD-A .ISO in the same way via HD Audio Solo Ultra and burned to disc with IMGBurn, and its playing perfectly in glorious 5.1 PCM. :music

So thanks Robert, :worthy - your test made me think I ought to go back to the beginning and restart the process.

Still wondering what the album was recorded on as the .FLACs are 24-bit @ 44.1kHz, not 48kHz or 96kHz as I would have expected.

Just listened to the album for the first time and one of the songs was very familiar, 'Everything you're not' I have as a download from Burning Shed by Postcards from Space from 2011, I always wondered what had happened to that project seems its now Tim Solo.

Great album by the way though so far only listened to the 5.1 which is nice not sure if there will ever be a way to vote on the mix

That's a great question.......I guess the way some of these albums are being released...this certainly complicates things. I mean....I doubt we would ever vote on the traditional CD...but for those that take advantage of the FLAC 5.1 downloads...would be nice to be able to vote on that. :)

I can't find any mention of the 5.1 mix on burningshed.com now - must we assume that it was only available to 'pre-orderers?'

No disrespect to anyone involved but that would be a poor decision imho.. not least from a business point of view.. ok, you may get more sales as pre-orders initially (**...) but then you won't be able to sell the 5.1 steadily over subsequent years as has been the case I am pretty sure with all the other 5.1's they have been involved in..

** (banking on people being aware of the 5.1 and its availability solely as a download with the CD/book set pre-order in the first place.. things easily slip through the cracks even for the most die hard folk on this board.. if this really is the only way it's available anyone here or elsewhere who missed it is screwed.. can't be, they must have future plans for either a DVD/BD reissue or maybe just maybe Burning Shed are going to set up a 5.1 download store???.. Hmmm..)

Yes, the 5.1 has been available only with pre-orders from as mentioned from day 1. Which was a bit tricky as some people almost missed out (no names mentioned here ;)

Burning Shed already has a hi res download store, Burning Shed 24. A logical development would be that the 5.1 mix would be available from there too.

To the people who missed out, it never hurts to ask. The people at Burning Shed are very customer and surround minded. QQ was even mentioned on their fb page in regars to burning the flac files.

The kind folks at Burning Shed replied to my email. The 5.1 mix was an enticement for the pre-order and is at the moment not available.
Pete from Shed followed that up by writing "We are hoping to sell the 5.1 mix as a separate item shortly".

So let's cut them a little slack - Maybe they didn't think it through well but there was no malicious intent.
If you are interested in the 5.1 mix and you missed the pre-order like me, I suggest you send a kind request to them showing your purchase interest.

That's good to hear, thank you Greg.

If Tim Bowness/BS ever have any "Burning" questions ( ) on these kinds of things I imagine they could ask Jon, Tim, Bob, essentially any of the QQ team anytime they like for advice..

..and hopefully they know they could, if they so choose, float such ideas to the rest of us here too, many QQ members I guess would similarly be only too happy to chip in and so on.

I'm guessing if there had been some sort of survey or opinion Poll canvassed here by BS in advance the response would've been overwhelmingly in favour of a DVD-A but it's just a hunch.

Lot of guessing going on by me there (just call me Poirot!) if I'm crossing the line, being presumptuous or just wrong and you all wanted a download you could only get if you pre-ordered the set rather than a physical disc like a DVD-A you could buy anytime you like, do set me straight! :p

Hercule, if a download with hi res stereo and surround was offered apart from the physical set, I probably would have taken that :)

To each his own, for the same price I'm happy to invest on the vinyl and get the downloadable 5.1. I still enjoy a lot getting the artwork in big format even though I end up listening to the surround version.
As I said, for the same price... In the specific cases of Amused to Death or Rattle that Lock I doubt I'll be expending more than twice and will be more than happy with the blurays

If I were BS/Tim Bowness & co going out on a limb with a download only via limited time pre-order deal, this is the kind of feedback I would welcome.. the major labels screw up all the time since they never lower themselves to consult Joe Public on what they want and how they want it.. Audio Fidelity are just the opposite and look how they deliver time and again with their Surround releases (I know v.little about BS other than what I've read here over the years but I see them in the same kinda light as AF, they're a specialist label that really cares about their customers).

Ah ha! The little grey cells! :D Good to know, maybe I'm the only one round here who prefers discs to downloads these days! Yours, Hercule the Dinosaur :p
Ha ha. You are definately not alone. And maybe it is just a phase , but I really enjoy the ease of use of putting my ripped discs and downloads on the NAS and play that funky music white boy :)

On the other hand, the amount of content we get on the XTC, SW and Yes blu rays for the low price, that will not be so easy to get as downloads for that price.
