I love all those original vintage 4.0 mixes! I hope they will rerelease all of them remaining on physical format. Regarding this one well I won't hide I appreciate more the single than the rest of the songs. Usually when I'm in a funky mood😁 I listen to other things, but remains a landmark album very important to have or know at least. A pleasing listen 👂🏻

War Anthology wise is a not miss affair but individual albums have some tracks I could do without. Only about 3 of the 6 tracks here I enjoy. It's a rare well produced Quad so I vote 8.

Whaaa?!? Another killer Quadio for which i have yet to cast a vote!?! This one has been in weekly rotation in Clementland (as i eat the salted peanuts out the can). I think @The56Kid said it best: "superb on all fronts" . . . i would respectfully add on all rears, too ("Four Cornered Room," indeed!). There is not a track on this album that i don't gleefully BUMP! The windows rattle in their frames and collectibles dance on the tables throughout the listening space, which is just one way of saying the fidelity is great, making this release CRANKABLE! With seven members, We get a LOT of soulful and funky instrumentation that is both playfully and tastefully distributed around the room, coming at me from all four corners and bringing me so much joy that i can't help but vote a 10 for this one! No wonder it was the #1 selling album in the U.S. in 1973! Highlights for me are the over 13 minute "City, Country, City," which allows all seven members to shine from all four speakers without ever getting tedious AND the absolutely exquisite "Four Cornered Room" that borders on the trippy through the masterful Quad mix. "The Cisco Kid" and "The World is a Ghetto," which might be stale from so much radio exposure, sound funky fresh in the mix. The production is KILLER throughout. So. Damn. Good.

I'm going to agree with Albert Dagger on this one. The quad mix is very good but not spectacular in my opinion. Some nice discrete elements, but maybe could have been some better choices in spreading things out more dramatically. I was not familiar with the original 70s stereo album, but I am also finding this mix is a bit uneven, with some elements occasionally popping out too loudly or being a bit too abrasive. I don't like to comment on content too much, as I feel this forum should focus mostly on the qualities of the surround treatment, not whether you like the album or not. But for me, only about half of the tracks are super cool, the rest much less interesting. So I gave this one an 8. PS. Would love to hear the War song Low Rider in quad - any chance the 'Why Can't We Be Friends?' album came out in quad originally?

This is such a crankable release. The quad mix sounds miles better than the DA on Apple Music. This is my second favorite Quadio release by Rhino. My first is still Gil Evans - Svengali.

Best use of Quad surround: Four Cornered Room
How appropiate for a Quadio release.
