Once loaded in, I find this tool excellent for showing issues in my tagging. The sorting by year etc helps a lot in finding issues. It was the first thing I used it for - finding and then correcting about 500 tagging errors :)

Making sure a cover file in each folder was my first and biggest issue. About half had them and the other half they were embedded in the tags.

I’ve got most the code implemented to add Genre to the Music grid and Report. Also, Genre and Comment is now read from CUE files. @M-K

I’ll need to upgrade the database to add the new Genre field. That will need a new db revision so old data will be lost. At this stage I don’t have time to write code to transfer data from old to new db.

Next Beta will have these changes

A new Beta 8 installer has just been uploaded:
https://reva.blob.core.windows.net/mmh8/ReportingBeta/MMHInstaller.msi

Changes today:
Genre added to Music (grid and Report).
Comments and Genre now read from CUE files
Scanning now included cover art files named 'cover.png' and 'folder.png' (added to jpg files already included)
Database gets updated* for new Genre fields (added to all Source Type
* Any existing data previously scanned is gone
Music report updates (Genre added, a square border on cover art is now removed if cover image is not square e.g. BD & SACD cover images - Media Type moved)

This update also added new fields to the Movie and TV Series databases for the upcoming reports I'm adding (fields for Genre, Cast, Director, Runtime IMDB Rating...)

OK, will do.

Hey Mike,

can you please do a couple of screen grabs of the files in your folders please. (Windows File Explorer shot showing all the file in an album folder)

Where you have used MKV files and another if you've used MKA files.

If you use MKV with chapters (not splitting), one of those too.

In the latest beta, if the DR value is double digits, the second digit is getting moved down to the next line on the report.

Hi Garry!
I'm testing this out now. It's looking good !

aaaah.png

(Version 8.0.13 Beta 6.)
(Windows 11 3840x2160 - 175% scale)

I was wondering what the codec "ch" comes from? And also the "FLAC Stereo 24/96KHz"
There are several albums in that list that contains FLAC Stereo 24/96KHz.
Just curious.

And the fourth album in the list says it does not have album art?
Its a boxset where each disc have one album art and the set itself has its own album art.

Another boxset that has two discs but all share the same album art, I usually just put a folder.jpg in that boxsets root folder, then one folder for each disc inside that root folder. That will not display album art?

If I double click on an albums source, it opens that albums file path. That is great, but it doesn't work on every album. Some paths just opens "my documents"

Hi Robert,

Thanks for testing.

I was wondering what the codec "ch" comes from? And also the "FLAC Stereo 24/96KHz"
There are several albums in that list that contains FLAC Stereo 24/96KHz.

With the option 'Get Audio & Video Codecs' checked 'On' during the source folder Scan MMH reads the codec data from the album media files (using MediaInfo). I'm not sure why the in the two 'ch' values but assume its something in my code, it should be appended to the Channel count (e.g 6ch for a 5.1 file etc, although the code changes 2ch to 'Stereo' and 4ch to 'Quad').

Are you getting all your Codec data foe those music files if you check that option and Scan?

And the fourth album in the list says it does not have album art?
Its a boxset where each disc have one album art and the set itself has its own album art.

Can you please post a screen capture of your Windows File Explorer folders open for that album and its sub-folder or files. I need to undertstand how you've stored that boxset please.

Another boxset that has two discs but all share the same album art, I usually just put a folder.jpg in that boxsets root folder, then one folder for each disc inside that root folder. That will not display album art?

Again a picture or diagram of your folder structure and file will; help me understand what's needed

If I double click on an albums source, it opens that albums file path. That is great, but it doesn't work on every album. Some paths just opens "my documents"

Can you copy and paste the exact Windows path for that folder please. I'll test here to solve.

Also, please update to latest Beta as there are a few changes. (link is same for all Beta, the only Installer is always the latest version. (BTW latest Beta will blow away your Beta 6 database as the db schema/design has been updated)

This looks awesome so far, many thanks.

I may be missing it, but does it have the ability to extract/display duration for music files?

Thanks again for all the work you have put into the tool.

Not in the current Beta release. But I have been thinking about adding it (the code to get track durations is there, I’m just not doing anything with it)

I guess what is wanted is a duration for each track (if the user checks the Add Tracks to Grid option) and also at the Album level (Album duration = sum(track durations)?

Same for the Music Video view (Concerts have tracks)

The Movie view has Runtime in next Beta. (That view version will get released today)

TV Series view will be last, tomorrow’s beta maybe.Do we need Runtime for TV series and Episodes?

I have 1 box "Minotaur" by the Pixies, that was in a main directory, that got CD1 / CD2 etc as artist name, so I moved the separate albums to the main directory and retagged that as main albums, but it keeps getting "Not Tagged", and the details 1 level up. How can I get the tags to be read?

One other remark is that when there is not a cover.jpg the reporting gets the cover of the previous album in the list instead of an empty cover.

Not sure what’s going on there. Are you using latest Beta version from yesterday (Beta 8)?

Did you do a new Scan after you re-tagged and moved the files? A ‘Refresh’ should also find the changes without a new Scan.

To better understand your folder and file structure, can you do a screen grab of your album folder opened in Windows File Explorer please?

I noticed you also have a extra ‘ch’ suffix in codec too that needs a fix in MMH.

BTW: I am now testing a new Beta which adds Duration to both Albums and Files in the Music view. I’ll upload that when ready.

A new Beta 8 installer has just been uploaded:
https://reva.blob.core.windows.net/mmh8/ReportingBeta/MMHInstaller.msi

Changes today:
Added Duration to Music
Added Runtime to Music Videos/Concerts, Movies and TV Series

This update again requires a database change and rebuild, so all existing data will be blown away. Users will need to Scan again.

Music working well but I want to tweak the new Report to add Duration for each album.

Progress:
Movies is not yet completed but if your Movie collection has got NFO files created by the free TinyMediaManager* app for Kodi then MMH reads those files to get Genre, Cast, Director, IMDB rating & Plot (the Report is not yet completed)

TV Series will get some new properties from NFO files files created by the free TinyMediaManager app before the final release.

Concerts will also get some additional data from NFO files created by MMH's Concert Scraper tool before the final release.

* TinyMediaManager is a pretty cool (free) tool that scans Movie and TVSeries folder/files to create data for Kodi (also grabs Posters and fanart used by Kodi), but anyone can use it to grab the data MMH can use in the Novie and TV Series Reports

The new Beta 9 Music grid with Durations forboth albums and tracks:
NewMediReportMusicWitnDuration.png

The new Beta 9 Movie grid with the new properties including Runtime, Genre, Cast etc

EDIT: Looking at that Movie image I need to separate Cast and Genres with comas. On my TO DO list.

Problem identified, the cover in the directory had no extention. FIxed that, problem solved.
