My haul from a road trip around the upper Midwest--half from thrift stores in Michigan and Illinois, half from the Wicker Park Reckless Records in Chicago. (Skunked on surround scores everywhere, sadly!)
IMG_20230813_171112624.jpg

  • Jonatha Brooke, Plumb
  • Chicago, Live in Japan (Rhino US reissue--brickwalled, sadly)
  • Graham Collier, The Day of the Dead
  • Diblo Dibala, Super Soukous (replaces an old cassette dub of a library CD!)
  • Ella Fitzgerald, The Harold Arlen Song Book (reissue, replaces cassette dubs of earlier individual CD issues)
  • Henry Franklin with Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Henry Franklin (Jazz Is Dead vol. 14, 2022)
  • GRP All-Star Big Band (I'll say! Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, Tom Scott, Gary Burton, Ernie Watts, John Patitucci, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Arturo Sandoval, Kenny Kirkland....)
  • Rickie Lee Jones, Flying Cowboys (replaces a pirated rip, don't ask me why I never owned a legit copy of this one)
  • Frank Morgan, A Lovesome Thing
  • Harry Partch, Revelation in Courthouse Park
  • Steve Reich, Different Trains/Electric Counterpoint (original issue with Kronos Quartet and Pat Metheny)
  • Tierney Sutton, AfterBlue (album of Joni Mitchell covers, supplements a FLAC download)
  • Lucinda Williams, Car Wheels On a Gravel Road (see Rickie Lee Jones, above)

You are certainly eclectic @Clement
How is Parliaments guitarists' solo album? Never knew he had one.
And amazingly Pharoah Sanders is still alive! Isnt he 99 years old now?

I'm stoked to hear the Hazel slab! Gotta give it a good cleaning first. We lost Pharoah last September. He was just shy of 82. I saw him live several times. Great performer and transcendent human being.

Oh sad. I did see Pharoah live once some years ago. Thought he was still with us. He did play with the great Coltrane and with Sun Ra for short while.
Your magic basement is getting more magical.
