Haven't done this in a while! A redbook CD that's been on my wantlist for a while (Dig It! + With The Keating Sound, a Vocalion two-fer by one of my all-time favorite horn players, Shake Keane) suddenly popped up at a reasonable price, but it wasn't worth paying transatlantic postage for just one item, so...
  • San Francisco Symphony/Michael Tilson Thomas, American Mavericks (works by Henry Cowell, Lou Harrison, and Edgard Varèse). SFS Media, 2012.
  • Bernard Herrmann, Moby Dick / Sinfonietta. Danish National Symphony Orchestra & Choir/Michael Schønwandt. Chandos, 2011.

interesting note: the quad mix just isn't a mix from the stereo recording but, at least some tracks, are actually different recordings. Don't know if there was just "added" instruments/vocals onto original stereo recording or not but have to admit I was surprised.

Multichannel session tapes will often have tracks with musical / vocal parts that remain unused. Unused until another mix is created.
 
Two SACD's from some of the most renowned labels for surround music: Telarc and Tacet. It's actually my very first Tacet purchase so I'm very curious to see if it lives up to the expectations.
