What's the Latest QUAD TAPE Added to Your Pile? Q8, Q4

thanks to a very kind member here who offered Q8s that needed care to a good home, I now have all sorts of new quad to hear, which I've never heard!
The quad War titles were really great, and I didn't realize Ozark Mtn. Daredevils were worth bothering with. There were a couple jazz titles that were super discrete and very enjoyable. Mahavishnu Orchestra was also a surprise.

Three new ones:


The Johnny Winter title has to be one of my greatest Q8 steals to date - $20 for a sealed copy! Everything about that one is spot-on: content, mix, and even fidelity (it's possibly the best sounding Columbia Q8 in my collection).

IMHO, both Saints & Sinners and Still Alive are fantastic Quads by Winter. Nice mixes and some great tracks.

I liked Space Experience by Keating. Somehow, I never seemed to warm up to 250 Years, even though I bought the SQ the first day it was out.

I thought the SQ LP was unusually good, but damn, this takes it to an entirely new level. Definitely one of the all-time great quad mixes - it pulls almost every fun surround mixing trick in the book (backing vocals in the rears, 360 pans, diagonal pans, call & response vocals between the front channels, dueling rhythm guitars and horn parts in the rears, etc).

Very astute observation, JP. The track selection is correct but that cover art is indeed from Santana's debut album. And it WAS a sealed copy. Oops! Wonder when BigBill gets the time to listen to all these new acquisitions. He most certainly has one of the most amazing selection of 70's QUAD QRs, Q8s and QUAD LPs on the PLANET!

This QR from RCA would, IMO, be a slam dunk future release from Dutton Vocalion:

Hi. J.PUPSTER & 4-eardwonder your to kind, I do have a large tape collection I don`t now if its the biggest I should count them up but I think I have little over 200 Q4 tapes & a little over 700 Q8 cartridges.

PUPSTER I came to the same observation afterwards but you beat me to the drow it`s one of those mysteries like a LP that is a QS matrix on the front cover but at the back talking about it being SQ...????
I try and open the Q8 `s up weather new or used and redo the splice and put new foam pads, then I try and listen to them when I have finished each batch.

My GREAT worry that these items 95% of them may never see a modern day copy,
There part of music history that may be lost for the future music lovers.

Joan Baez when I listened to this tape the singing was hard left front & left back which sounded wrong so I rotated one connection clock wise and sounded correct.
By the way this Q8 tape is the first I have come across having bleed through at a couple of places at the beginning of the song and at the end of the song....????

This is not a Q8 /Q4 , but it is a tape (QSC). Just came in . Been lookin for a long time for this one. RM encoded. Also got the AHM QSC tape last Saturday from France. It doesn't have the outer sleeve, just the yellow inner.
