I love this album also, but I don't know about Pop???, seems more like deep cut F.M. Folk/Rock (but hey, it's your pick o_O); besides, I think Rammiepie just likes the cover...

Yes, that was an idea to start the thread & i recently discovered Emmit Rhodes.......how do you post youtube video's on here ? ( Or the easiest way. please ? )
Copy the you tube link, click on the ā€œchain linkā€ icon in the menu above your messsge and paste the link in the box

damn, never heard of them either. I must live in a tunnel.
Iā€™m surprised. Jellyfish has been mentioned several times in this forum. If you havenā€™t heard Spilt Milk, youā€™re missing a very special album. If you like Queen, Badfinger, or similar, youā€™ll love Jellyfish.

And can you imagine what Jellyfish would sound like with a good 5.1 mix? The mind boggles.

I was lucky enough to see Jellyfish in concert on the Tears For Fears Elemental tour when I lived in Seattle. They were the opening band. As much as I like Tears For Fears, Jellyfish should have been the headline band. What surprised me is that the lead singer (Andy Sturmer), was playing the drums while standing, the entire show.

Soooo happy to see someone say Emitt Rhodes. That is one of a half dozen or so perfect albums in my mind. I wouldn't include comps personally. Ones on my list already mentioned include Aja, Rumours and AR. Here are a couple that I didn't see mentioned...

Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Zombies - Odyssey and Oracle
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels on a Gravel Road
Green Day - American Idiot
Supertramp - Even in the Quietest Moments
Steve Earle - Copperhead Road

By this, i mean an album that in your opinion is faultless from first note to last note, with no filler tracks.

I'm going to kick this off with an album released in October 2020. Nik Kershaw's "Oxymoron" album.

For me, not just the "perfect pop album", but a contender for my favourite album, ever ? 16 tracks, which is rare nowadays, that i never tire listening to....well i haven't yet !

I've never heard of this one, but your board nickname doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Emitt Rhodes - self titled

One man Beatles - all killer no filler!

Emitt was truly an amazing talent! Such a beautiful, clear projecting voice, and tremendous song-writing skills! An early predecessor to this album was his work with the group Merry Go Round and their hit single ā€œLiveā€ from 1967. Please give it a listen and tell me what you think. Sadly, we lost Emitt just this past summer of 2020.

+++ to Jellyfish! I adore both of their albums but agree that Spilt Milk takes the cake.

Love the idea of perfect albums... all killer no filler. To not repeat others, right from ā€œplayā€ two albums that hit me that way in the last decade-ish were ā€œPort of Morrowā€ by The Shins and ā€œI and Love and Youā€ by the Avett Brothers.

At the risk of being obvious though, Purple Rain doesnā€™t have a single note out of place. And Sign Oā€™ The Times, even at its length, ainā€™t far behind...

(Canā€™t wait to check out the title that kicked off this thread - thatā€™s a discovery for me!)
