Emitt was truly an amazing talent! Such a beautiful, clear projecting voice, and tremendous song-writing skills! An early predecessor to this album was his work with the group Merry Go Round and their hit single “Live” from 1967. Please give it a listen and tell me what you think. Sadly, we lost Emitt just this past summer of 2020.

I have pretty much everything Emmit has released from Merry Go Round going forward, which sadly is not nearly enough. There is a great documentary titled “One Man Beatles” about his life and subsequent fall into self imposed obscurity. It was available via Vimeo for awhile but has since been taken down.

I’m surprised. Jellyfish has been mentioned several times in this forum. If you haven’t heard Spilt Milk, you’re missing a very special album. If you like Queen, Badfinger, or similar, you’ll love Jellyfish.

Ya it's a great album. vinyl versions have gotten pricey in the last few years.

I have a few off the top of my head:

Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Athenaeum - Radiance
Theresa Andersson - Shine
Tift Merritt - Tambourine

All classics in my opinion and still enjoy listening to them.

Anything by Mark Knopfler. A good example "Sailing to Philadelphia". Always great musicians, well recorded and no excessive compression.
Layla -
DEREK & THE DOMINOS (Eric Clapton)- "Layla and other love songs"

There is a wonderful 2 part interview that was done with him for an LA-based magazine that gave tremendous insight into Emitt’s psyche and creative process. You can read it here, and then follow the leads to part 2.

I couldn’t decide between these two:
Blue Merle “Burning In The Sun”

New Radicals “Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too”.

Both groups only released the one album. But both albums are solid and filled with pop hooks IMO.

Have you checked out The Lickerish Quartet yet? I am curious how they sound.

They are interesting. Not Jellyfish, but - as you might expect - an interesting mix of Imperial Drag, Roger Manning solo material, and the Umajets. In my opinion, better than any of them (except Jellyfish).

I've only heard what's on line and the tunes seem good, how the CD or Vinyl sound would be interesting to know, my guess is the vinyl will most likely have been pressed at a less
then desirable plant but anyone know on either format?

I’ve got the CD of Vol. 1 and have been impatiently waiting for the CD of Vol. 2 which has been stuck in a postal distribution center 80 minutes from here for almost a week (maybe tomorrow?) Vol. 1 sounds great to my ears. I’ve heard the downloads of Vol. 2 and I prefer Vol. 1 from a content perspective.

I’ve never heard of Blue Merle. I’m listening to it right now on my last day of Amazon Prime Music HD. It has a relaxing sound to it with the first few songs I’ve heard. The lead singer sounds very similar to Coldplay’s lead singer. I like the violin action throughout the songs.

'Frequency' by Nick Gilder or anything by New Musik. Honourable mention: 'Remembering The Future' by NASA.
