@GOS Gene, I was thinking how poetic you started this thread The First Time..................and then @Quad Linda started the Roberta RIP and one of her big hits was The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Just trippin' I guess.

Anyway I thought of another jaw dropping song, I was watching a movie, I forget the name, and the needle drops on the record at this little party and this song comes on and I am like WOW that is awesome, needless to say I watched show to end and read the credits to find out it was Cissy Strut by The Meters 1969.
Great song, instrumental.

For me it would have to be the Stevie Ray Vaughan tune “Riviera Paradise”. The first time I heard that song it brought tears to my eyes. I could just feel the emotions coming out of Stevie’s guitar.
To this day that is still one of my all time favorite songs. And it still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

I have a stereo only compilation I made of my all time favorite melodic performances. Riviera Paradise is definitely among those!
