Oh man! I wish mine could have arrived today. It's seriously "odd" how arrival dates are all over the place.....when most of us ordered on day 1.
I think where we live matters. I’m only 7 hrs or so from LA by auto.

And TBH, I haven’t checked my mail for a few days. They might have been sitting there for awhile. 😮

Question for @ForagingRhino

I’m listening to “Sundown” right now, and this sounds so crisp and clear as if it was recorded yesterday. Presumably these quad masters have been virtually untouched for ~50 years. Have there been any problems with dealing with tapes this old? Oxidation? Bleeding? Flaking?

Any restoration work needed?

I did the same, let the dust settle.
Made sure I knew what the discount code was and ensure I had an order just big enough for free shipping.
Ordered on the 16th, shipped the 17th with confirmation and tracking number. Arrived 20th, perfect condition.

I did my share of loud complaining about the messy first order.
So it’s only fair that I commend and thank Rhino for a flawless experience this time.

You really need to sign up for USPS informed delivery. Every day you get an email of what's coming that day - mail, junk mail and packages. And if you send packages, you also get an update. It's a must have! 🙂

I technically ordered before ‘day 1’ as I logged in around 11:50 ish pm and there they were already, I ordered them and the transaction was finished before midnight with a confirmation emailI stamped11:56 on 10/12, hear nothing till I finally contacted them on the 17th and, low and behold, they ‘magically’ just shipped that day. As of today mine are still not here, floating about in the USPS ether somewhere! 🤨

Welp, mine all arrived yesterday.
With baited breath, I opened the package to discover a broken corner on Mr Mingus disc. Iam not sure how only 1 was broken.
What's really ridiculous is I've bought 8 or 9 albums from Rhino and those are double layered, but these are sent out in a single layer of cardboard. I was so disappointed, I didn't even play anything...
I wrote Rhino customer service last night. I know I cant be the only one experiencing this.....So to recap, bought 8 Quadio's and 3 arrived with broken cases. I asked about buying 3 empty cases, but why should I expect them to arrive unbroken?

Oh and btw, the corner of the shipping box shows damage, as if one of the trained monkeys threw the box like a Frisbee into a shipping container.
DISAPPOINTED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT

I will be disappointed if any of my jewel cases are damaged but it won’t be something that I get that upset over.

First off, I’ve had plenty damaged over the years when I order from Amazon. It’s the down side of ordering via the internet and not a B&M store.

Secondly, I refuse to let something that can be replaced for a few dollars, ruin my day.

As long as the discs are fine then it’s all good.

I guess this is directed to me, since you posted your thoughts after my post.
First off....You must have missed the part that over $600 of vinyl has shipped without issues. So that alone shows that Rhino knows how to package their product(s).
That is the issue.
Secondly....I've had 3 shipments of the Quadio's. First group was broken down in 2 shipments and the last group came as one. 2 out 3 arrived with damage.
I would write it off as dumb luck, IF I was the only one receiving broken cases. But that's clearly not the case
Comparing Rhino with Amazon is ludicrous, as Amazon has CS that you can reach by phone 24/7 to resolve issues.
I offered to buy replacement cases, but don't expect a reply over the weekend.

And lastly, I've bought a $6k Whipple over the internet, no issues. Over $10k of motorcycle parts, no issues....Know why? The manufacturer knows how to package their products. I would gladly pay $10 more in shipping for proper packaging

I doubt he was talking directly to you. Many have complained over and over about broken cases...including me. I try to limit my groaning as not to be a downer. But again, it happens and I still don't like it. Never ruins my day, it ruins my initial excitement when I'm opening the packages though. I'm already expecting some cracked corners when mine arrives tomorrow, and I won't be very happy if/when they do. lol

Wasn't really speaking to you personally but the topic in general. Shame on me for not making that clear. I thought that by not including your comment that it would imply a general reply to the topic and not to you personally.

I've never tried to get Amazon to replace a broken jewel case, do you know if they will? I've never tried because I write off a broken jewel case as the cost of doing business over the internet. If jewel cases were expensive then I wouldn't be so dismissive, but they aren't.

Here you go... for $1.25 you can make it all go away and get on with your life and listening to the music.

Not for me. Last thing I need is more emails!

It’s possible the discs had been in my mailbox for a couple of days. But I wouldn’t have had any opportunity to listen to them until yesterday anyway so…

Just listened to all 4 today and here is my personal subjective ranking as I heard it:
1.) Mingus
2.) Gordon Lightfoot
3.) America
4.) Spinners

Mostly subjective but:

1) Mingus is the jewel of this set. Stellar mix and great jazz content.

2) Lightfoot sounds great — great sound quality and quad mix—but I’m not all that huge a fan of the material.

3) Spinners has the best content (for my personal taste) but the mix and sound quality are wonky

4) America is uneven both in terms of mix (sometimes there’s not much going on in the rears, but overall it sounds good) and quality: outside of the two hits, I don’t think it’s a particularly good album.

Yeah, I've used USPS informed delivery for quite a while and find it very helpful. They also send package tracking numbers with an arrival time estimate, often days in advance.

On top of that, I can see every morning when no mail (or only junk mail) is scheduled for delivery and it saves me a walk to the mailbox ;)

Just finished listening to the Spinners and I got an alert that the Chicago box was available on Amazon. Someone had it up for $200 and I of course bought it on the spot. Will I actually get it? This is exciting! (I was really, really broke when it was released but I'm a big fan of Terry Kath era Chicago...)

Yesterday, I received my order that included the two Quadio Discs. No damage to the disc cases but I would have preferred some protection between the jewel cases and the Vinyl LP’s due to the album cover that was sitting underneath being indented by the cases. My order arrived 8 days from when I placed the order and I’m only a couple of hours away from Rhino. 😆
