This is some really huge and exciting news for me and I'm sure many here on the forum. I'm more into Quad music now than ever before, and still find & collect old Quad LP titles to enjoy; they go very very deep within the relatively short time period of their original heyday.

One of the main reasons this is so huge, is that I was under the impression from prior comments by Steve, that the Rhino Quadio series had run its course and petered-out. It's been what, around 4 long years since @ForagingRhino posted anything here? So it isn't that there aren't loads of possibilities for modern digital Quad releases; but that the corporate attitude towards it at Rhino (and most other companies) just wasn't supportive of it.

It's also exciting that as far as I know, they've never released 4 Quadio titles from 4 different artists at the same time. That's a very different way of doing things from the box sets we've been getting.

So the question is- has there been a shift in attitude now by the folks at Rhino for releasing more Quad (Quadio) titles in the future and on a more regular/consistent time schedule?

Here’s my guess for the forthcoming titles:

Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly
Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Jefferson Starship - Red Octopus

If an artist has more than a couple of titles available in the Quad format, I would think they would save those titles for a box set. Unless, of course, if all said collection of titles cannot be found or are not in great condition. Then, we may see a single album or two release only.

So yes, BluRays with the same Quadio/Stereo functionality as before.
Except for one title (this might be a clue!) where the Quad program deviates quite a bit from the stereo version.
As the audio programs need to be the same length for the Red/Yellow buttons to work, we had to lay this one out with the Stereo tracks AFTER the Quad.
So when you play the disc, the Quad plays first followed directly by the Stereo. Unless you select and individual track (like with a cd).

192/24 for both Quad & Stereo on all titles.

all 4 of those would be superb choices and i feel hopeful they would be very well received by QQ and SHTV members alike ❤️

Dude, do NOT tease me with the Sabbath stuff. LMFAO! I'd probably die of a heart attack first...right when putting the disc in my Oppo. :hi

Are we testing the waters with these Quads being released, to see what Joe Public will buy.
Or is this the start of a larger Rhino project?

Either way, it really is incredible that Rhino is still producing physical releases.

Long may it continue :SB

Killing me! When will the titles be unveiled? Throw us a bone man!

Could be they've seen how the quad SACD's, from Dutton Vocalion, are selling, and they want to get in on that market. Releasing them on Blu-ray makes sense, since more people can play that format in surround than SACD. I've seen several BD-A titles come with a separate stereo CD, as well.
Dutton Vocalion using SACD is a mistake in my opinion. On top of the issues with the audio (pain to rip, high frequency noise shaping etc) it pretty much means one stereo and one multi channel version of the music. With blu ray and some simple menus it's trivial to have multiple stereo tracks, 4.0, 5.1 etc. and some music videos etc ie whatever exists related to the album can be put on there.

Possibly they've realised they can't get any more boxsets together and it's either single albums or call it a day with Quadio titles. As for the time gap, maybe they've had a review of the business and decided to give it another try? Without inside info we'll never know.

There was a thread at the start of the year about upcoming releases announced or speculated in 2023 and what we were looking forward to.

One of the things I said was that I’m most looking forward to the things I don’t even know about... those surprises that no one has any hint of.

This tip-off is exactly that.

And if I could have some choices off the link that was shared... Deep Purple, please.
