Please, can someone who heard this bluray chime in and let us know what you think of the mixes and the fidelity. With the standalone coming up I would very much appreciate a proper review - thanks!
Mine was in the thread for the big box set. Short version is it is not suited to my taste. Even if the surround mix is decent, I was put off by compression and bright, thin vocals. I'd rather listen to the stereo original UK LP as a result.

My interest is primarily in the first Alan Parsons Project Atmos mix - I'm still waiting for a detailed review of it. There's a few short and superficial reviews I've run across, but they mostly just throw vague superlatives at it. I've heard many complaints about Alan Parsons mixes being too bright/harsh, etc. but I haven't found any of them to be unlistenable. I'll be interested to hear if this Atmos mix tames any of that. Apparently he's a fan of Steven Wilsons mixing work, but if his hearing really is compromised he can't do much about that.

Surprised that more retailers have been so slow in offering this standalone - the big box set is still selling for insane prices.

It's someone who has never left a comment in the seven years they have been 'registered' (one can't really say been a 'participant' or 'member' or some such) of QQ. Something

Hmm if you do a simple replacement cypher substituting "A" for "J" & "P" for "T" you will discover the new, mystery poster is really A. P.
As in Alan Parsons. Parsons is stacking the voting early in his favor. Some kind of pyramid scheme perhaps?

My only fear when I die is that my wife will sell all my guitars for what I told her I paid for them!
Ha Ha - what a post I can relate to.
The past 15 years, when mine asks, solely out of curiosity, I always start making it complicated by explaining 'I traded a couple of pedals and a microphone and...' blah, blah blah. Not once have I ever just answered, and I don't even give anything close to an actual number.

Are you a politician LOL

Oh if only! Then I could afford even more, as well as accepting guitars as bribes. I'm just a guy married to a woman that doesn't understand how much needs to be spent on them. And funny thing is, my Dad does the exact same thing with my Mom. And we both seem to have a few that have had their serial numbers removed long before we ever acquired them.

No idea how you have arrived at the conclusion I am being a snob and I find your comment to be a bit inappropriate.

For what it's worth, I thought it was a really good suggestion you put there. Many online forums don't allow for certain actions until a given member reaches a specified number of messages.

I'm sure many of us can relate to that.

It's really too bad that Rhino has been raising the prices on box sets and reissues, and seems to be pushing vinyl pretty hard. Including vinyl in an already pricey box set just makes a package harder to buy for anyone who has long ago left vinyl behind, but in particular anyone who is mainly interested in digital surround/atmos. At least Alan Parsons acknowledges this by offering the standalone blu-rays. Thankfully for the Yes reissues if you can wait a few months after the release date, prices have significantly dropped at many outlets.
