Can't wait. I will be getting this one.

Having been at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival I'm just catching up, and what brilliant :51banana: news, so thanks.

I'll definitely be buying it.

Anybody idea where/when we can pre-order?

Glad everyone spoke up!
Democracy is not a spectator sport and i guess surround releases are headed that direction more with every year. Ya all got your wish!
Good work to all who spoke up and helped the people get what would work for both the folks who would want to own the music and those who might want the other items involved in a boxset.

Hi Tad,

You’ll be pleased to hear that Universal have agreed to a separate release of the Blu-ray which contains the 5.1 mix and a high-res of the ’76 album. Same release day as the box set - currently slated for Dec. 2. Spread the word.

Hope all’s well,

A=

I don't think we will be seeing preorder options for other editions of this reissue (including the stand-alone Blu-Ray) until September at the earliest. Remember, this is coming out at the beginning of December, so we are still about 3.5 months away from release.

A stand alone Blu ray is fantastic news! I can't wait to order it and hope it won't be the last. I would certainly buy every APP album in surround.

Thanks a lot Alan and Tad.

This is one of my favourite albums. I already have it in several versions, including the deluxe edition with both the original and the 1987 remix.
I was about to preorder the box, but I'll wait to preorder the standalone Blu-Ray when available.

Thanks for all the thanks guys. but all i did was alert him to what we are all thinking, and he did all the pushing to get it done. He loves surround and i think he was up to the task as he feels the same as we do about surround. If a surround mix was included and it sold very little, his mix goes nowhere. And surround would look like it matters little when we all know the surround and hirez stereo will outsell a boxset by a mile.

Make that :

Excellent job Tad, thanks(y)

Tad,
Please pass along the multiple appreciations to Alan, thanks again for both of your fruitful efforts.:D

Another box set ordering option here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tales-Mystery-Imagination-Edgar-Allen/dp/B01LA64QFC/

For US buyers, it comes out to around 71 pounds, which comes out to around $94, definitely a better option than the PledgeMusic site.
(Oh and don't ask. I have not found any other versions available for preorder yet.)

I leapt....it's listed as a 5 disc set... so It's likely the 3 CDs and the Blu-Ray and maybe a duplicate DVD.....

70 pounds to Canada...beats the hell out of the 141 pounds and a complete set of vinyl hubcaps..

Actually I think it is the same set as what's listed on the PledgeMusic site, so that would be 3 CDs, the Blu-Ray, and 2 vinyls.
But regardless, it's definitely a much better price than Pledge Music.
I could get this set for this price (or lower) and not feel (too) guilty about it…

;)

haha - I had forgotten about this one. I hope "you all" alert us when you find a legit pre-order for a stand/alone. I will be all over it for sure. Thanks QQ!

I'm actually disappointed. I wanted to see the original 1976 LP cover. But I can hardly wait for this edition to get here!

Nope, I mean this one. This is the album cover of the LP that I bought new in 1977. When it came out on CD in the 80's, it had the redesigned green cover and I've never seen the original cover again. I wish I still had the LP. You can also see this album cover (and some discussion of it in the "Artwork" section) in the Wikipedia entry here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_Mystery_and_Imagination_(Alan_Parsons_Project_album). My best friend at the time owned the LP a few months before I did, and his was the same.

By the way, has anyone noticed that the bass line introduced a few bars into The Raven, that begins at the line "To my amazement...." is precisely the same bass motif that appears at the beginning of the song Breakdown on the I Robot album? I always thought that was interesting.

From the Alan Parsons Project Facebook page:
We are delighted to announce that along with the 40th Anniversary Box set of Tales of Mystery, Universal will also be releasing a stand-alone BluRay audio in 5.1 on 2nd December. It was re-mastered with high quality audio by Alan Parsons at Capitol Studios in LA this Summer.

(Alright, so here's the first buying option for a stand-alone release, so everyone who's been clamoring for this, time to put your money where your mouth is!) ;)
