A friend purchased this at Grooveland and was told by their Customer Service that the Blu-Ray was region B. Now I was under the assumption that discs from the Pure Audio imprint were region free. Does anybody know whether that is correct or not?

Several retailers normally say that import Blu-Rays are Region B when in reality they end up being region free.
I can't remember ever coming across a Blu-Ray audio disc that had a specific region to it, so I would probably say that this one should be fine, but of course, we can always raise hell if it turns out otherwise… ;)

Agreeing with Ryan on this.
The other fact we have to go on is at the Alan Parsons Pledge site have the bluray listed as "NTSC and Region 0" so it would seem very odd that they would make a Region B specific Bluray.
Having said that its a good point that was made up to let others know there could be a issue.
I am still waiting a bit to see if Amazon lists a proper price soon as do feel more comfortable buying something closer to home in case there are any issues with this disk.
I have ordered a few things from Grooves and have not had a problem with them.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the 'Merican members out there.
While Region Encoding is part of the Blu-ray standard, I've never seen or heard of a region encoded audio only disc.

This is primarily for film distribution rights as one studio may have distribution rights in North American and another studio has European dist. rights etc.
Not to worry.

Mine is on its way too. Did anyone just ordering the blu-ray get a notification that the Box Set was being shipped? I really want just the blu ray as it has the surround mix and the right packaging to fit on my shelf.

thanks,

thanks,

I thought so as well at first. Then I looked closer at the email. The project is called 'box', but the item ordered just states 'BluRay'. When I first saw the email, I thought I might have screwed up and ordered the entire box!! :yikes

Just received a 20% Coupon from JPC Germany for everything in their Line-up right now. Ordered it for 70€ shipped. Thats not too much for the box, is it? :)

OK...
Just to recap, folks... this is the ORIGINAL 1976 mix WITHOUT the Orson Welles narration (i.e., NOT the 1987 AP REMIX)...

anybody?

I'd buy it in a second if it were the 1987 remix, cause Orson MAKES this record (among other things)
