A 40 year old scan of the Billboard album chart. Cool to see something from a time when there were columns to indicate quad LP & 8-track availability. Although the scan also seems to indicate quad's demise as only one title in the top 7 was available in a quad format. :(

Anyone catch The Who on Fallon last night? Great version of Who Are You I thought. Anyone have tickets to see them this year on their NA tour?

Not this year, but I caught the Who Hits 50 tour last year in Nashville, and while I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the Quadrophenia tour a few years earlier, it was still a great evening getting to hear so many of my favorite Who hits live, probably for the last time. It's recommended! :)

Having being somewhat p*ssed off about my Universal Player going in for repairs and finding I couldn't get multi-channel analogue out of my old (& not used for years) Denon so no 5.1 SACD playback, I delved deep into the manual and came across an obscure ref to INITIALIZE followed the instructions and magically multi-channel analogue came back to life, but HDMI output disappeared! but who cares, as back to 5.1 for SACDs/DVD-As until the newer one comes back.

Happy Birthday to David Gilmour today, 70 and still recording and touring! :party

This guy is still producing music through 6 decades! His last 2 efforts, Endless River under the PF banner and the solo Rattle That Lock may not be the stuff of 40 years ago, but I'm still very pleased to have both in my library. You know, we bitch and moan about new music, how compressed and uninspiring it is today. Whether you've warmed up to his last two albums or not, he's made them available in formats we all love on here. Beautiful surround mixes you don't often see in the plethora of new releases today. And I think that's pretty damn impressive. :upthumb

I'll be catching him at Radio City Music Hall & Madison Square Garden next month. Can't wait!

I love music trivia. I was digging around...mostly because Kap'n said in another thread that he LOVED the vinyl of PATTO - HOLD YOU FIRE 1971. Well, since I had no clue who Patto was, I had to search it out. It's a WEB of interest....

So, lead singer of Patto was Mike Patto....the band was only intact from 1970-1973. Patto was also briefly in Spooky Tooth.....
And talk about Spooky Tooth....one of my favorite artists was a lead writer in the band....Gary Wright...of Dream Weaver fame.....other members in Spooky Tooth were Mick Jones of Foreigner and Greg Ridley, who later had fame with Humble Pie...

Another interesting thing about Spooky Tooth, they had a song called Better By You, Better By Me, which was written by Gary Wright....later covered by Judas Priest on 1978's Stained Class.
