Hi!
Years ago, I was able to hear a Q8 rip from "Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends" (hope it's ok to mention this), the live triple album of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. I don't know how faithful it was to the original cartridge, but it was enough to blow my mind away. Never ever heard the moog details I've heard in the Quad version. Also, the piano (Piano Improvisations, Take a Pebble) sounded strangely better and fuller than in any other version I heard. Not to mention that Karn Evil 9 had a kind of 10 seconds sound check prior to its beginning (something I only heard in bootlegs).
I wonder if anyone who was lucky enough to hear the Q8, and also saw ELP in Quad during the 1973-74 tour, could share some words on how the Q8 compares to the Quad design of the shows.
Does the Q8 reproduces the Quad of the shows or it was independent of that??? I hope back then they had the vision of keeping the show Quad in the Q8!
