I recently purchased Rhino's Chicago Greatest Hits and Carly Simon No Secrets Dolby Atmos/Quadio Blu-Rays. I can play all formats on the discs EXCEPT the Hi-Rez Stereo tracks. I've tried adjusting playback settings on the Oppo (default set to Bitstream), but nothing makes a difference. The Denon receiver shows "DTS-HD + Neural: X"on the display, but no sound is coming out the speakers. I've also tried manually changing the receiver from Auto to Direct mode, but still no sound. Anybody else have this issue, or better yet, can help me figure out why it's not working? Thanks for your help!

I normally keep HDMI Audio Format set to Bitstream. No Audio. In Auto mode, no audio either. But, I just tried setting HDMI Audio Format to LPCM and got the Hi-Res Stereo audio to play through. So... why doesn't "Auto" mode recognize and send the LPCM signal through the HDMI?

Hmmm.... If you set the OPPO's 'HDMI Audio Format' option to 'LPCM' the OPPO will 'transcode' the disc's native DTS-HD MA stream to LPCM before passing it to your AVR!

Is it just these two discs you're having issues with. Do your other audio discs or movies with DTS-HD MA audio work okay, then the OPPO's 'HDMI Audio Format' option is set to 'Auto' or 'Bitstream'?

I have a similar setup (sent to eARC in my BRAVIA tv) and have had issues with the Quadio discs. I'm sure it is a DTS issue,
and am similarly fiddling around with settings.

(Deleted post. I thought I had a similar problem but - long story short - I didn't.)

I use analog cables from my Oppo to the AVR. But I really need to have the HDMI connection going as well, as I would like to replicate the issues discsussed here and the solutions as well.
And I'd like to compare the sound quality of the DACs in the Oppo 105D vs the Yamaha RX-V3800 7.1 AVR. I've never bothered with that comparison. It's like why bother messing around with something that is currently working perfectly well.

We use two separate Oppo players. the 103 for stereo into a Decware Zen tube amp. The 203 for 5.1 via Yamaha receiver ~older Rx-V 2700, purchased new at it's release.
I will say that the Oppo dac must be VERY good. Just sounds absolutely amazing/via analog RCA's.
Stereo setting on the Yamaha is very good too...but is using an HDMI connection. For two channel, we prefer the Oppo/Decware. No question. But such different types of amp....
It would be a nightmare to now get behind the front cabinet to test drive BOTH amps via analog RCA's.

I'm currently using a Yamaha RX-V3800 actually. In fact I just did write an overview on this AVR (in comparison to a vintage Denon unit).

The stereo output of the Oppo 103 is what convinced me to listen closer to those DACs in that unit. I was not happy with CD sound at all. Lacking 3D transparency. The 5.1 seemed fine enough, just not 16/44.1. Then the Oppo 105 claims of higher end DACs used and plus other reviewers were of the same position, that the 105 sounded best. I admit that I did not have both units connected playing the same disc and then did an A/B comparison.

I left room behind my rack (and a desk lamp back there so that I can do reconnections and alterations when needed. I'm painting my listening room with cool dark colors rather than having white walls which has gotten boring. So all speaker cabling which was nailed to baseboard is being pulled up and replaced with thicker gauge. That, I would bet sounds no different. I do need 50 feet each for surrounds, so maybe those speakers will benefit with the new 16 gauge thicker wiring?
(edit)
Maybe your tube amp makes for an improvement in the sound of the Oppo 103?
