I watched this last night and was very pleased with how well this movie was made. Great camera work, acting, special effects were impressive for the time, good story that deals with some very adult themes.

Poltergeist (1982) 4K:

1. 4K upgrade looks spectacular. Colours are awesome. I noticed things I'd never seen before such as a plane in an opening shot across the subdivision. Some digital trickery to remove cables and such for some of the special effects. Kind of a shame they didn't tidy up some of the other special effects but they still look pretty good so not a major.

2. Mine didn't freeze around the 13 minute mark like some reports on the interwebs. I MKV'd mine and watched it via the Zidoo Z9X.

3. DTS-MA 5.1 is the same as the previous release. It's very "stereo" with quite a bit of hiss so a shame they didn't give it a remaster/remix. Oh well. Not a deal breaker.

4. Still a fun watch.

Men (2022) BD:

1. Not a bad surround mix with ambient environment sounds in your surrounds.

2. The movie has its moments. Rory Kinnear is superb. Worth a look if you dig early Polanski/80's Cronenberg.

3. I got a NZ release but here's an Amazon link if anyone's interested: https://www.amazon.com/Men-Blu-ray-DVD-Jessie-Buckley/dp/B09XWRT5LX/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2ASHIRROOD0HX&keywords=men+blu+ray&qid=1667331132&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjI5IiwicXNhIjoiMC4yMSIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDUifQ==&sprefix=men+blu+,aps,310&sr=8-2
Yes, I DIG early Polanski [Knife In The Water] and Cronenberg [Scanners, Rabid, etc.] ...will have to add it to my list!

I went ahead and ordered SONY'S COLUMBIA CLASSICS Volume 3 boxset [Deep Discount offered a 15% off coupon] and an interesting addition is the 1979 From Here To Eternity 5 hour miniseries broadcast on American TV with Natalie Wood, William Devane, and Steve Railsback which was only ever available on VHS [Sony has released in on BD~V 1080p in this set]. With the exception of It Happened One Night, SONY has remastered most of the titles in Dolby ATMOS and all have HDR10/Dolby Vision. Makes a nice companion to Volumes 1 & 2!

Columbia Classics Collection, Vol. 3
