Sound/vision/digital correction upgrades sound good! Not so good is the freezing issue which is mentioned in the whining-crybaby-nerd-males-in-their-20's (ahem, excuse me) Blu-ray.com forum too. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy it for myself to see if it works. I'll whine about it in this forum if it freezes!

Some players ARE prone to freezing, most unfortunately.

But I love how the digitalbits refreshes the controversy as to who really directed Poltergeist ... Spielberg or Hooper and how according to Zelda Rubenstein who played the psychic, Tangina, Hooper was in the bathroom doing 'blow' while Spielberg helmed actual direction of the flick.

Yeah, I read an article about it around the time Tobe Hooper died and I think it was Jobeth and Craig + some of the crew who said Tobe set the shots up and Steven worked his magic. Apparently, there was a writer's strike at the time and this was a way around it. Whatever the reason, it's got Spielberg written all over it.

Just like the music we listen to, the viewing space can impact your viewing pleasure as well.
I have always found this chart interesting although it feels like it skews a bit too quickly toward no difference.

It *is* a great chart and is one of the big reasons the 4K steering committee for the UltraHD standards made the 4K format an umbrella of sorts for various improvements.

Ultra HD's H265/HEVC compression is visually superior to bluray's H264/AVC, so compression artifacts are further minimized. 10 bit depth for video instead of 8 bit allows for smoother gradients. Then add to that a wider color gamut which allows for more precise color variations. And last but certainly not least: HDR, be it HDR10, DV, HDR10+, etc .. which (when properly calibrated) increases the contrast range without clipping peak whites and also w/o crushing lower blacks.

With the above in mind, even older non 4K material can look better "in 4K", as the compression is better, and 10 bit has been an industry standard for a long time now (ala professional formats such DPX and ProRes, etc) Color in DVD and to a lesser extent bluray, was always given a backseat. Now 4K gives color in a consumer format a real chance to breath so to speak. While Ultra HD compression standards still unfortunately all use 4:2:0 or 4:1:1 vs true 4:4:4 or even 4:2:2, there are all still viable improvements, and we're getting there...

All I can say: FREAKIN' AWESOME IN 3D ....... An edge of your seat thrill ride. Somewhat of a hommage to Vanishing Point. Great Immersive DTS~HD MA 5.1 soundtrack. Aaron Paul is superb! {Dreamworks/1080p/2'10" /Region B]

Burning Shed has the 50th anniversary King Crimson documentary available in a boxed edition now. Also included are
concerts, etc. in Dolby Atmos . . . about 80 bucks in US dollars (the pound is low right now; sucks for them, but good for
us US citizens!).
