Hey @4-earredwonder the John Wayne movie filmed in 3D was Hondo.
I confused the titles. The film has been restored in 3D and was last shown at a festival in 2007 but there is no release on disc or streaming version you can rent to see the 3D version. Too bad

In researching this I came across a 3D title Dynasty that says it has a quadraphonic soundtrack. That one you can buy on bluray.

It was originally shot on 16mm film and Mill Creek Entertainment released the entire 5 seasons on 13 BD~50 blu ray discs with a Dolby Digital 5.1 codec. Being that it was a gloomy, rainy Thanksgiving day in New York I thought it was an opportune time to watch Alfred Hitchcock's landmark 1959 classic NORTH BY NORTHWEST on my new calibrated Sony Laser Projector. With a sparkling repurposed Dolby ATMOS soundtrack, I was immediately struck by how magnificent Bernard Hermann's score resonated and from Saul Bass' eclectic opening titles I knew I was in for a treat.

Has Cary Grant ever been better as the erroneously abducted Manhattan advertising exec who is thrust into a whirlwind chase across the USA only to realize he's a pawn in an FBI investigation trying to lure a deceitful James Mason who is smuggling top secret info to our adversaries abroad! And a lovely Eva~Marie Saint as a willing accomplice who eventually falls in love with Grant's twice divorced character who we discover is working for the FBI, as well.

Hitchcock used a lot of processed rear projections to effect some magnificent set pieces and this Warner 4K remaster stunningly replicates them all.

And since the US Parks Department denied Hitch the ability to use the actual Mount Rushmore for his thrilling climax, a facsimile of the monument was brilliantly constructed on a soundstage for what can only be considered as one of the director's most chilling denouements!

Thanksgiving Day 2024 in New York may have been cold and wet but the privilege of watching one of the director's most famous cinematic achievements in Warner's stunning Native UHD 4K remaster was the icing on the cake ....or in Turkey day terms ...Gourmet Stuffing!
