Hats off to Disc Exchange here in Knoxville, they had a couple in stock! Too early to vote, but initial impression is a mix that's entirely appropriate for the material. Good stuff!

I went to THREE Best Buys and none of them had a copy. One guy checked his computer and it showed ZERO on order and none in any of the surrounding stores in the state. I made the mistake of checking out a Circuit City, and their CD stock has dwindled to what amounts to a spread out "pile". I went to two Borders and neither had a copy, although one showed that there was one copy that came in yesterday, but after a very long search, it was determined that it had not come in but was slated to. One copy ordered by the store - what a joke.

For the hell of it, I decided to go into the Buckland Hills Mall and check out the Frye's, a store I detest. Well, I went to go there and it was gone (or had moved), but a few stores down from where it used to be was a NEWBURY COMICS!!! Holy crap, I had no idea they had come to this mall. Sure enough, 3 copies were on display prominantly in the NEW RELEASE section in the front of the store, and it was on sale for $18 to boot! How nice to have an "independent store" still around to deal with.

These companies wonder why this shit doesn't sell. PUT IT IN THE STORES!! and maybe it might. Good grief. What a nightmare.

(I have to admit, it was very cool to see a "real" new release DVD-A from WB again. Too bad there are not any more that I know of coming.

I'm looking for this one too---not my favorite artist---but I'll support this type of release.

Looks like I'll avoid Best Buy, and I already tried one Borders. I will check FYE and one of the locals tomorrow.

I have a feeling that archive/vault material isn't much of a draw for the "big box" stores. They could humor us and order at least one of each of the major labels new releases. Dreaming aren't I.....................

And with stocking policies as they are, what incentive to Warners have?
I remember even back in 2000 trying to buy DVD-A oin stores on Oxford Feaking Street in the middle of London's West End was impossible.
Virgin, HMV, Our Price - none had anything on the shelves. After careful enquiry, I spoke to the HMV manager who told me that they did indeed have lots up in the stock room, but did not know where to put them in the store, so they were going to send them all back.

I was asked to leave when I pointed out to them that for a record store, they certainly seemed to know where to put the games, books & tee shirts.....

You're right of course. The retail stores that blew away the little shops with their deep catalogs and cheap prices now have "shallow" catalogs and cheap sale prices.

Of the 3 BB's I checked, not one had a Graham Nash section at all, when I know that they had one at one time. The pickings at CC were ever worse, no sections at all, just piles of CD in semi-alphabetic order.

Jon - I had the same experience yesterday in my search which included Borders, CC and Best Buy. BTW, I was also looking for the Fourplay SACD "Energy" which was released yesterday. Much better luck today in NYC - Virgin Times Square had both! I'm pretty sure that J&R also has them - unfortunately, these two retailers and others like Newbury Comics are the rare exception these days.:(

...oh and their closing Virgin (both Times Square and Union Square) early 2009!

The trip to Barnes & Noble and Best Buy @ the Inner Harbor were a bust looking for this....... though Dr. Simple, I am in Maryland right now, where did you say they keep the big warehouse???? Jon, want to pick up one of those spare copies at Fry'e for me? I'll send cash.
My trip to Joe's Record Paradise in Rockville was more successful at least, thanks to the poster who said they maintained a small quad section. An SQ Sampler, the MJQ "Blues On Bach" CD4, and CD4 of the Hues Corporation for a total of $17. Not must have's but not bad..... and who doesn't get a chuckle out of "Rock The Boat"..baby. John S.

Sorry, John - as of last Tuesday it made it to the west side of Pennsylvania (Warrendale???). Maybe it will nudge into Ohio before tomorrow. You might be able to hi-jack my copy in Akron.

Got mine in the mail yesterday (from Overstock.com). Only had a chance to listen briefly so far...not enough to report much just yet...but anything in DVD-Audio these days is most welcome!

John,

You'd be better off just amazon'ing it. By the time I get back to that mall, there would be no guaranty that one would be there. They only had 3 copies, and it was a Newbury Comics, not a Frye's.

Actually, I probably should grab a few extra copies, as I doubt that they made that many, and who knows what the future may bring. It could be a good trader.
