Although not my favorite Gabriel/Genesis album, a really good Atmos mix of Lamb... would be an essential 'must own', IMHO. That's why I fear that if they do include such a mix in a reissue, I it will be locked in a very expensive, bloated boxset. Somehow I don't think 'reasonably priced' will enter the thinking around it, but time will tell.

It would be nice if new Genesis remixes were better balanced. Whatshisname tended to emphasize the vocal too much on his old remixes.

And of course there was the too-extreme dynamic range compression on some of those remixes -- that should be tamed. Wind & Wuthering is a prime example, though he dialed it back a bit for the 1970-74 albums

(Please, don't tell me 'Steven Wilson should do them'. No. Fortunately, SW doesn't feel much love for Genesis music)

Interesting how PG is allegedly the driving force behind this album being put into Atmos.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always recalled him being.. not too enthusiastic about the idea of remixing his back catalogue into surround sound. Hoping this is a sign that after the success of I/O, he had a change of heart, and we can someday see his early solo career in surround as well.

You know I'm one of the few who doesn't always think SW gets everything right (although I consider his mixing work to be generally good to excellent), but I have the feeling that he'd do a fabulous job with Genesis if he liked their music more. I think it's the type of music that suits his skills as a mixing engineer best. But I'm not the biggest Genesis fan either so what do I know.

From the brief article some critical details are still unknown that will hopefully be revealed by the end of the week. However, at least they seem to be splitting out vinyl for a separate release from a 4CD/1BD set for ~$100. That's encouraging. A list price of ~$100 isn't cheap, but not out of line from other high profile reissues. Of course, without a brand new surround/Atmos mix it would be a non-starter for me.

The Amazon listing says 6 discs. But it is Amazon.
IF the reissue contains an Atmos mix, IF it's good, IF it does well, and IF they start an Atmos reissue campaign, I might be in for titles up through Wind And Wuthering, but after that, case by case. That's a lot of IFs at this point. ;)

I just gave my old 5.1 SACD of Lamb a spin - about as I remembered, loud and harsh. All the albums could really use a good remix.

Some more detail posted by VicShwarz on Steve Hoffman forums. If this is true I will be ecstatic!
