Not in Atmos anymore on Apple.Yes but at least Rust in Peace was actually discrete and had some very fun elements (panning, etc.) This just sounds awful and has nothing going on even in 5.1.

Still on Tidal. Not in Atmos anymore on Apple.
I will check it out tonight on Tidal, basically I like Rust In Peace in any versionStill on Tidal.
Try the TIDAL Web PlayerApple or Tidal? I have both.
Holy s*** you’re right it’s gone!!! If Dave ever wanted to release a Rust box set he’d better include a blu-ray with the surround mix.Not in Atmos anymore on Apple.
I meant lousy recording engineering when the multis were recorded. it’s hard to get a great ATMOS MIX if the source tracks are distorted, overly compressed, bad eq etc…for example, it’s clear that the Elton John stuff was originally recorded very very well and that was leverage pd for great surround and ATMOS mixesThose things (although I’m not exactly sure what “poor quality multis” is).
Plus sometimes the multis may not even be available. And perhaps most importantly, good mixing is time and money - particularly with stuff originally recorded to analog tape in the pre-digital era. The return on doing a quality surround mix on a vintage album probably isn’t as good as we like to think it is.
Just got email from one of my fave artists - SanandaMaitreya

Last night I went on Tidal and listened to the Rust In Peace- Megadeth, I loaded the super deluxe stereo and the Dolby Atmos. What is your opinion of Rust?
I wonder if the super deluxe you were listening to on Tidal is the original stereo mix or the remix, I know the original mix just recently became available on Spotify.Last night I went on Tidal and listened to the Rust In Peace- Megadeth, I loaded the super deluxe stereo and the Dolby Atmos.
I much prefer the stereo in this situation, I felt the Atmos was flat and lifeless.
Listening to Megadeth's We'll Be Back from The Sick And Dying in Dolby Atmos. I like it, all 4 heights, front and surrounds, going off.
Center channel basically non existent.

If it’s the original mix I do agree that mix is superior, but did you not like the swirling guitar “battle” between Friedman and Mustaine at the end of Hangar 18? How about the laugh at the beginning of Lucretia? I’ve listened to this album for many years and I thought the Atmos was a fun new experience!
It did sound a little off the first time I listened to it but the tip from @edisonbaggins to crank the sucker really made the drums come alive. I’d really like to hear this one on disc to see what difference it would make.Does the Atmos mix sound flat and lifeless? I think it sounds very rich and full. I can't imagine going back to the stereo mix and front only presentation.
