Listening to in Dolby Atmos Streaming, via Tidal/Apple/Amazon

Nearly every album I click on is showing as Atmos now, including many that are obviously not. My firmware is up-to-date and I restarted my AppleTV and it still happens.

Yea, I noticed this yesterday. Got all excited when I started seeing albums in my search history showing up as atmos, not... lol maybe a tease for future release?

Was really hoping Purple would get a surround mix when that deluxe box was released a few years back. Maybe something will show up on streaming, After all Tiny Music recently got a deluxe box sans surround mix!

Yup, everyone has the same issue that I had the other day. Thought the latest update would help but alas...Atmos on every album but not really Atmos, only stereo. ARGH!

Probably the best of the 80’s/Geffen years albums. And even with a couple of huge classic hits, the album is nowhere near his 70s peak. Haven’t played this in probably 30 years. Wow those 80s drums are horrible! (And I’m an 80s music fan) The surround mix is pretty good. Greg Penny I presume?

hopefully this an indication of many many more full Elton albums to come!

I really don't understand the bad critics read about this Sting Atmos mix.

Its true that the effects are subtle. But elegant.

In my 9.1.4 system (Tidal-Atmos) I Do hear:

- Good immersion sensation.
- Discrete instruments in different locations.
- Panning sounds from side to side (through the heights some times).
- Sounds enough coming from the tops/heights.
- Sounds enough coming from the Wides.

The Sting vocals are always frontal, but in stereo LF, without using the Central, which is appreciated for the single MLP.

I do not find excessive harsh or bright sound in my system (Using Audyssey DEQ).

All this gives a similar sound to the original stereo but with the enhanced clarity, immersion and instruments sounds detail all over the room. This mix should be good for the traditional stereo people that doesn't like aggressive ping pong mixes.

All this applies to "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles".

"Ten Summoners Tales" is not as good, no objects on Wides, but still immersive and Height sounds.

"The Bridge" is really as the bad critics say: Only Stereo with a very minimal echo/reverb on the rest that generates very lttle immersion and no discrete at all.

I agree. I don’t find this mix to be nearly as bad as some are saying. It ALWAYS sounded a bit flat, and that hasn’t really changed. And I’m not hearing the harshness

But the mix is nice and immersive with some good discreet moments. Especially if you crank up the rears a couple of dB.

nothing wrong with this at all IMO.

Ok what’s going on. This album shows on my Apple TV as Dolby ATMOS. it doesn’t play as ATMOS.

On my iPad, in the Apple Music app, it just shows as Lossless. What the heck is going on? Could this mean that there will be an ATMOS mix coming?

Most likely some kind of software bug with the latest Apple TvOS release, as others have reported incorrect Atmos labeling upthread. There's definitely an existing 5.1 mix of the Hypnotic Eye album though, it was released on Blu-Ray back in 2014.

Nice solid mix throughout. Too bad they don’t list the credits on Tidal. But this is a really good one in 5.1. Good placement. Helps that this is pretty much an all-killer-no-filler album to begin with. I’m smiling.

Yup, I have it, pretty good mix. I was hoping that this was a sign of the coming availability of Petty ATMOS mixes ….

A word of warning to those contemplating updating to latest TV OS version 16. It doesn’t completely fix the all Atmos indicator bug- but has significantly reduced the playback volume on Atmos encoded content to Tidal- like levels.

I provided feedback to Apple considering this as an unwanted bug in the new operating system.
