Music Library Tracker

Flags newly released Apple Spatial program material....
I purchased this app yesterday primarily to thank the developer for the Twitter feed he’s been running.

My experience has been that this app didn’t identify all of the spatial audio tracks that are available for my library. I am sure there are many variables, and I just don’t have the time to reach out to the developer.

For example, only 3 of The Supremes tracks in my library was flagged as a match despite having about 10 additional tracks in my library that have Atmos mixes available on Apple Music.

I know I should be grateful but I am slightly disappointed.
Better to have at least this - I know, but this remake/remodel just misses the mark.

The mixes for the Avalon tracks are passable but the SACD 5.1 tracks are soooo much better. Dare I say the mixes are a tad too bright with all the low end stuff being somewhat subdued. The cool vibe of both the original stereo & 5.1 are just not there for me.

The selections from the first albums era sound harsh and don't hold a candle to SW's mix :(

This only re-ignites my desire to have the whole catalog released in surround but with a little more attention to detail.
The atmos Avalon is not helped by having nothing in the center channel.

Ah bummer!

I purchased this yesterday and am quite pleased with it so far. It doesn’t exactly do what I’d hoped but it’s a handy utility.

I emailed the dev with a few questions, a couple requests that should be easy and, as it turns out from his genial and quick response, either difficult or impossible. Either way, it does seem like he has a roadmap.

He’s apparently been reached out to by a number of us qq loonies already (quel surprise!) and is implementing at least the one very common request I made, I suspect some others not part of our exchange.

After spending $38 on a Dylan Blu-ray of content I already own (of course!) the extra $3 was an easy spend. Along with this addictive thread I think with time it’ll help me get more out of the $11/month I’m paying Apple to access surround content none of us thought possible a year or two ago.

I have 74 Atmos Supremes tracks in my Library and it found all of them. I wonder if you have added them from odd compilations that haven't been scanned yet as opposed to the primary albums. I'm not sure if it still works this way with 2.0, but it it used to add tracks from user libraries to the queue to be scanned, so maybe just give it time. Also be aware that it can take a while for the Spatial Audio playlist to populate (with my 6000+ SA tracks it takes at least an hour).

He also has some major scanning queued up (to remove tracks that have reverted back from Atmos and add Dolby Audio) so I suspect it will take a while for things to get caught up.

My gosh, it's just so hard for me to get excited about all these atmos mixes as 95% of the titles, I've never heard of. I know I'm in the minority here, but I just want all the music I grew up with and love to be what they offer. But.....
+1 Totally agree

Roxy Music - The Best Of Roxy Music
Tidal - https://tidal.com/browse/album/275394155

Ooh wonder how this sounds?!? Currently away from my system but hopefully it's a good mix? No Atmos mixer listed - hopefully Bob Clearmountain or Steven Wilson had some involvement?
More Than This, one of the best Roxy Music songs ever produced - is the live version on this collection? Bummer :(

That might be a result of the lossy compression rather than the mix.

You don't own the Avalon SACD?
Yes, of course I do - but that's not in Atmos. The 5.1 mix by Clearmountain is stellar - at the time of its realease, I actually bought an SACD player to be able to listen to it - I was DVD-A up until that point.

Considering Bob Cleamountains disparaging comments about Atmos in his last interview, I'm nit holding my breath for a 7.1.4 version of More Than This (the song) nor Avalon (the album)

If they hire him to do it he will.

Right or wrong, he is up front about his feelings about Atmos lasting beyond the honeymoon phase.

Either way, he knows that meanwhile he'd be a fool not to be able to do Atmos mixes if they come knocking at his door.

Yeah, but Clearmountain or otherwise, I want someone who both knows his/her way around an Atmos console, and is passionate about the dimensional possibilities. Too many Atmos mixes, so far, are not something I'd be proud of. And then some.......masterpieces in their portfolio. :)

Turns out the "new" U2 is actually in Atmos on Apple Music at least, and for the three songs so far released. I am stating this in sort of an objective deadpan because as a U2 fan since '85 I have some very strong feelings about this, and the whole Vegas thing going down right now... but since we're capturing the links here:

For what it is, the mix is discreet and I think done really well. My issues are more around what it is. And maybe more to the point, why it is.

Not for me it isn't. I am getting the studio version.
that's odd.

I get the studio version on my Apple Music program on my laptop, but the live version on the Apple Music on my Apple TV 4K.

{edit} - I added the Studio track from my laptop to my Atmos Demo Tracks playlist, then brought that playlist up on the Apple TV and now it plays the studio version through my receiver.

I think it may be that I use Apple Match for my iTunes library, and the system gets confused. Will call a colleague at Apple and see what's up.

Agreed...never a fan of re-imagining classics
