Robbie exercising his tonsils, with a fair mix

I didn't expect this, Robbie's songs usually have many elements... but IMO the mix feels very compressed, the drums sometimes very buried in the center and other instruments and choruses that could have been placed on other sides of the atmos mix. Rock DJ (out of sync in the part sampled by Barry White), Supreme, Feel, Rudebox are some examples.

Yeah, that West End Girls mix was awful. Are they on Warners these days because that would explain it.

It's just weird that a-ha get the white glove treatment with Steven Wilson mixing Take On Me and Pet Shop Boys get screwed with their first surround mix. It's like The Living Daylights all over again!
More than likely an AI mix instead of from the multitracks.
PSB have been notorious stingy with surround versions.

I like the U2 more than others here on first listen last night.
I'm glad you liked Achtung Baby in atmos. In time I will probably be able to enjoy some of the new aspects of it, but I really wanted an atmos mix more true to the original. The main problem I have with this mix is that I have to compare it to the now 33 year old stereo mix. It was a landmark in it's time and maybe the peak of pre digital workstation rock recordings. Taking a long step away from the 80's with it's full frequency range, drums, vocals and guitars thrown right to your face. Always balancing on the edge of too much, but always on the right side of it. Controlled and refined, but not polished so much that it lost it's rock nerve. Lanois, Lillywhite and last, but not least Flood gave their best and wow how good it still sounds. The atmos mix in comparison sounds way different. Drums, guitar and vocals are much more distant. A lot of the energy is gone. The experience is quite different. I wonder how they ended up with this type of mix? It seems like the transfer from multichannel and preparations were done well. Why not take mr. Wilson's advice and recreate the stereo mix first and move on to the immersive part from there? And I might be tempted to add: If you are unable to redo the stereo mix, leave the job to someone else. I wonder if they used the stereo mix as a reference at all?

A lot of the energy is gone.
Sorry, but that wasn't my initial impression. My memories of the original release were when I had a great car stereo, with subs in the trunk, and I did most of my listening in the car because I spent most of my time in my car. I remember vividly how great this album sounded, and how great the bass was and the crankability. I felt like the dynamics of the new Atmos mix held up. I have full range 3-way surround, floor speakers that will give dedicated subwoofers a run for their money. The bass coming from the rear of my room, reminds me of back in the day, listening to my car setup, with the addition of sounds coming from different directions. Very interesting how our memories of certain albums shape our expectations of new remixes. I was a huge U2 fan from nearly the beginning, starting with the EP Under a Blood Red Sky on vinyl, and seeing the U2 War tour shortly after. Starting with Joshua Tree, U2 really upped their game in the studio.

Did they seriously fucking censor this?!?

Mix is serviceable, yeah, but I've yet to decide whether I can live with the edited-out cuss words.
I checked on Tidal and there is only one version of this compilation available and it doesn’t have the indicator for explicit content, so you’re out of luck for the time being.

D'Angelo's sophomore outing, with Roy Hargrove, Charlie Hunter, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, and a guest spot from Q-Tip. Not to mention J. Dilla's production at its peak. Definitely no "slump"; it's a stone cold classic! Just waiting for Black Messiah now:

Discovered a couple of YT vids on this album that made me notice more of this artist (sounds like a lot of Prince influence and others to me.)

Updated my Apple 4K TV from 17.1 to 17.3 this morning and while playing this album didn't notice anything but stereo (it says Atmos in the heading) So I thought maybe the update changed something; but I then I tried some Booka Shade, ('cause you know that's gonna rock the extra speakers, and they sounded great -in 5.1 here.)

Also thought maybe it's one of those with just one or two songs actually in Atmos, so then I checked Ben Dodson's Atmos finder, and that said the whole album is Atmos. Very much at a lose as to why I'm not getting anything in surround off this album. Anyone have good surround on their system for Voodoo?

Anyway here are the vids that attracted me to this artist/album:
