I do wonder if these quad additions to Apples streams, are affecting the Watfords Wizards business model?

i wondered that.. tbh i doubt it, there's some crossover amongst Quaddies like us here at QQ etc who will want to hoover up Surround in any form it is offered but i imagine mostly they attract two different types of customers/consumers?

I'm curious about how they mixed this; I listened (stereo only) to Rehab last night and there is a lot going on in this song IINM, like horns, back-up vocals, tubular bells and orchestra etc., so there should be plenty to work with on some of it.

I loved this album when it came out, and it was basically the soundtrack to all the *** I was having in 2006-2008 :phones. This is kind of the first time I'm sitting down to listen to it properly without distraction, and it's as fabulous as I remember. The mix is great in my opinion, a lot happening all around. I like more discrete mixes usually, but even so this is really good.

I'm kind of shocked at how much content there is on Tidal at the moment, having just finally gave in and set it up in my office. The UX leaves a lot to be desired though. It's impossible to get a full picture of what's actually available and many things are impossible to find without a direct link. Frustrating.

On Tidal, a few ATMOS soundtracks have popped up. The new Dune soundtrack from Hans Zimmer sounds great, but there doesn't seem to be a ton of activity in the surrounds. There is a new Blade Runner animated series called Black Lotus on Adult Swim that has TWO soundtrack albums. The score album is very ambient and reflective of the original Vangelis with a fair bit of surround activity going on (based on my very quick run through).

I certainly didn't see this one breaking light of day - EVER,
goodness gracious ya'll !!!

The sound quality overall is no contest in favor of DV's SACDs for me!

A lot of these Atmos' titles are just too wispy/sizzly sounding.
Surprised more folks don't recognize the sound quality factor; and I'm one with questionable banged up ol' fart hearing.

Well, I see no reason for me at this point to buy much more disc based music, it have to have Atmos or I won't bite. I'm very satisfied with the offerings from Apple Music, both in Atmos, 5.1 and Quad. Sound quality? I can't hear the difference anyway. Listened to Tori Amos today, and in fact it sounded better to me than on disc, with a better surround/height activity.

For me Pups, being another ol fart, it's amazing to even get this avalanche of surround music hitting our hairy lugholes.
For that I'm very grateful and there are plenty which sound wonderful in Atmos , on my 7.2.4 setup.
Maybe some don't sound that great when played through them old fangled 5.1 speaker sytems... :D
True the streaming will never match the physical product but it sure beats where we were.
That's my two penneth, Pups 🐶

You're absolutely spot on. I'm 58 and the lossy Atmos is worse sounding than the best MP3 (320 Kbps CBR). It's got a bit of that nasty hollow out of phase sound like the early days of 128 Kbps MP3. Plus the low end isn't nearly as clean and powerful as the lossless stuff. I just compared both the 2020 and 2021 Atmos Sgt. Pepper to the 5.1 blu-ray. No contest in terms of sound quality, the Blu-Ray sounds far better. The 2021 Atmos mix is far better than the 2020 mix though and closer to the sound of the 5.1 Blu-Ray, particularly in the low end.
