For real. I posted some personal faves in the classical thread (copied & pasted below) a couple of weeks ago, but a lot more has dropped since then. I can't keep up!

Donno whether any of the bigger--and more knowledgeable--classic-heads have Atmos rigs...?

No links here, I'm afraid--you'll have to search:

Deutsche Grammophon/Decca:
  • Andrew Norman, Sustain (LA Phil/Dudamel)
  • Charles Ives, Complete Symphonies (LA Phil/Dudamel)
  • Johann Johannsson, Orphee
  • John Adams, The Gospel According to the Other Mary
  • John Adams, Must the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?
  • Konstantin Reymaier, The New Organ at St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna
  • Mahler, Symphony No. 3 (Vienna/Boulez)
  • Mahler, Symphony No. 8 (LA Phil/Dudamel)
  • Mahler, Das Lied von der Erde (Shanghai/Long Yu)
  • Nadine Sierra, There's a Place For Us
  • Stile Antico, The Golden Renaissance: Josquin Des Prez
  • Vikingur Olafsson, Johann Sebastian Bach
  • Vikingur Olafsson, Mozart & Contemporaries
Warner Classics:
  • Mahler, Symphony No. 2 (Berlin/Rattle)
  • Schubert, String Quartets (Alban Berg Quartet)
  • The Immersive Experience (sampler; London Phil/Gernon)
Indie Labels:
  • Caroline Shaw/So Percussion, Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part
  • John Luther Adams, Lines Made By Walking (JACK Quartet)
  • John Luther Adams, The Become Trilogy
  • Malva Quartet, Wooden Bodies
  • Stale Kleiberg, Concertos
  • Trio Mediaeval, Solacium
My setup is 7.1, haven't bothered with height channels. I suspect I'm not missing that much in classical?

The latin section is not representative of the cornucopia, for example the Salsa Atmos disc blows that content out the door, and there are other styles omitted altogether, they also should do Brazilian music in Atmos.

For those of you with both Atmos and Auro-3D capabilities. do these 2L and Sono Luminus offerings sound better via one or the other (assuming the recording has both flavors)? I realize it is a setup issue as well.

That is a question which will probably divide a response.

Sometimes I think the Auro-3D is better than the Atmos version. It seems to be more precise.
But....on other days I think the Atmos version is better....weird eh?

Need to fine tune these old lug holes... :D

To give you a definitive answer.....I reckon the Auro-3D just edges it.

At least Latin's got its own Featured Genre list; I'd love to see Blues and Electronic lists added.
