it is deliciously comical, i've been actively hunting for the ultra (ultra!) rare Battiato Sony SACD set without success for well over 10 years now (i keep telling myself its probably got an underwhelming Live mix anyway 😂) and boom here comes Universal with not one but two Battiato albums in Surround as part of a streaming subscription! 🤩 the world's gone Battiato i tell thee! 🤯🔨

If you are referring to Last Summer Dance, it's a great live album but the surround mix was enhanced stereo, really. The CD is more than okay for that one.

Other essential Battiato albums, in my opinion (there are many more, but I'll stick to three choices here):
Sulle Corde di Aries (1973), an Italian prog album, released much earlier than the best-selling albums with the typical Battiato sound.
L'era del cinghiale bianco (1979), probably the first commercial album, and the beginning of a commercial success in collaboration with Giusto Pio
Gommalacca (1998), Battiato returns to electronic sounds. I hope this will be the next atmos mix to be honest.

yes, that's the one! you really found the holy grail! its got to be one of the hardest to find Rock/Pop Surround SACDs of all! 💘

i like his music in all the forms i've heard it so far, a really varied body of work! hopefully they will remix all his music in Atmos! 🤞

Mixed by PIno Pinaxa. Apparently, he's the only guy who can do atmos in Italy at the moment
https://amphion.fi/userstories/pina...he-first-dolby-atmos-certified-room-in-italy/

he should start mixing music into Atmos for the whole wide world as well, he's good at it! 👍👍
if only he had done some of the other Atmos mixes that are out there at the moment by people who frankly don't have the magic Atmos touch.. the Spice Girls for example really needed, no demanded stuff to be flown around the room! 💅💪🇬🇧💃🏿

sooo i tell you what i want, what i really really want! i want stuff flying round the room oh and i really really really wanna zig-a-zig-a! ahh, time for a shandy methunks 🤣 🍻

I agree, he's quite good at it.
The stereo remix is a bit compressed, unfortunately, so I prefer the original, but the Atmos is reference quality to me.

Guess who listened to the whole album last night? ( I have to apologize to my melatonin production.)

This is actually quite a good album with jazz inflections. If you want to stray into the world of hip hop I would recommend this album- just wish there was less expletives so I didn’t have to listen so late whilst my kids are in bed.
Plus the album animation on Apple gave me a chuckle….
This is a rare one for me...I'm actually enjoying this hip hop release!!

Was listening to some Scorpions and noticed that they had a new album coming out. Played the one available track and suddenly noticed guitars behind me. Atmos. The one available track on Apple Music is “Peacemaker” I still think they peaked with Blackout…

Blade Runner is very good....excellent mix and I'm enjoying the music 🎶.
Yeah, this isn't my typical listening... my 11 year old daughter yelled up the stairs "dad, what are you listening to?!?" because I think she recognized some of the voices (or at least styles) from her favorite radio station (and also because it was a big 180 from my blasting Minstrel In The Gallery earlier)—but this is "the sounds of today" in the very best way. Modern production and stylings with really solid performances, and a really great mix. I was very pleasantly surprised!

Henry Brant, Ice Field. Previously, this had only been available (as a download from Qobuz and the like) in a binaural headphone rendering of the Atmos mix. But binaural just never works for me. Lo and behold: checking on it the other day, I discovered that at some point, SFS Media had quietly given Apple Music the full-on Atmos mix (in spite of the fact that the EP is erroneously labeled "Binaural Edition"). And it's crazy good.

If you're not into contemporary classical, you might be a little put off at first listen. But give it a chance. Actually: maybe watch the video (Track 2), where Michael Tilson Thomas Explains It All For You (TM), first. But this piece was practically made for Atmos.

Thnx for the tip; I was sampling some classical last night, there's a ton of it on there now; but the Jazz genre titles are woefully missing for sure, and the mixes are generally uninspired!

Speaking of which: drummer Johnathan Blake's new album just dropped, and yeah...he's a serious cat: been around as an A-list sideman for a long time, finally released his first album as a leader not quite a decade ago, and this one is his Blue Note debut. He deserves a bigger audience, for sure, but Atmos-wise, there's not much going on there, sadly.
